    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Angelia Byrum" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Subject: [COOK-L] Jacob COOK b. 1820 VA d. 1877 MO > Hello, > I am still hoping to locate parents and siblings of my Gr. grandfather Jacob COOK b. 05 Oct. 1820 in VA and d. 07 Nov. 1877 in Henry County, MO. It is believed that Jacobs' mother may have been Mary WOMELSDORF. Siblings may have been John W., Sarah J., Ann, & Daniel W. That has yet to be documented. He was married to Amelia(Millie) LONGBRAKE or LAMBRIGHT around 1854-1856. Exact date and place of marriage unknown. Amelia's family lived in Harper's Ferry or Shepardstown, Jefferson Co., VA now WVA in 1853 and left in 1854 for Henry Co., IA. Jacob and Amelia's 1st child Franklin K. Cook was b. in IA in 1855 or 56. Jacob & Amelia are found on the Henry Co., MO 1860 & 1870 census. Amelia remarried after Jacob's death to a James DUDDERAR, DUDDERER or DUDDENEN 1879 in Henry Co., MO. I am trying to find some COOK's with LONGBRAKE, LAMBRIGHT or WOMELSDORF connections. Any clues or connections will be very much appreciated. > Thank-you, > Angelia COOK Byrum > > > ==== COOK Mailing List ==== > Visit the COOK web homepage at > http://members.aol.com/CookCooke > > > ============================== > Search over 1 Billion names at Ancestry.com! > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/rwlist1.asp > >

    1. [COOK-L] William J Cook 1862-1938
    2. I am new to the list and hope that someone out there can help me. I have 2 Cook connections, so it might get a little confusing. Right now, I'm working on one specific line. William J Cook born 8 Mar 1862 Wentzville, St. Charles, Missouri died 25 Mar 1938 Greybull, Big Horn, Wyoming married Sena M Brodie (Here's where it gets confusing; she's his first cousin once removed thru William F Cook's brother Frederick A. Cook.) 3 Sept 1910 Snow Creek, Franklin, Virginia William's parents are: William F Cook born abt 1811/1812 Franklin County, Virginia died 1872 St. Charles County, Missouri Elizabeth Harriet McClenny born abt 1823 prob St. Charles County, Missouri William's siblings are: Emma Cook born abt 1854 St. Charles County, Missouri John Mordecai Cook abt 1856 St. Charles County, Missouri Mary Cook abt 1859 St. Charles County, Missouri Elizabeth Cook >From a letter written by my great grand aunt (Sena's sister) it appears that when William F Cook died in 1872, his wife Elizabeth Harriet McClenny remarried and with her new husband and children moved to Montana. I don't know the new husband's name, but from the book, Mordecai's Mount, I have gleaned the following information: Emma married N.E. Jenkins of Duprey, Montana and had 3 children. John Mordecai married Jennie Hyatt and had 2 children. Mary married AO Enderly and had 2 children. Elizabeth married Daniel O'Connor and had 1 child. Can anyone provide me with any more information on this family? I grew up in Montana and would love to know if there are still some of the Cooks from this line living there. Thanks in advance, Janae

    2. John D. Cook
    3. My John C. Cook was born in 1861 in Jackson County, North Carolina.. He is the son of Solomen Floyd Cook and Martha Shelton Cook. John married Eva Robina Browning in 1881. They had two children George Wesley Cook and Robert Luther Cook. They resided in Waynesville,(Haywood County) North Carolina. Sometime in the late 1890s John disappeared. One family story says he went to Texas. Another has him changing his name to John Shelton. I have not found any proof to support any of these stories. It is possible that he died. However I have not found records to support that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. John D. Cook

    1. [COOK-L] John Cook/Thankful Tripp/New York
    2. Gregory A. Cooke
    3. -- I decided to post information again to see if anyone has found anything new relating to my walls. I am descended from John Cook and Thankful Tripp Cooke from Coventry,RI, whom, after the Revolutionary War, settled in Laurens, Otsego County, New York. I have concentrated on direct lineage, but I have found in my father's genealogy files several letters and documents of related lines that cover several who migrated west. Samuel Tripp Cook, my ggg grandfather was married (1) to Amanda Hunt of Cherry Valley and their children were Angeline Adelia m.Smith, Orson, Nathan, Rhoene M. m.Hume,Hazeline Azelia, Harvey (my gg grandfather),Thomas H. m.Olive Falston, Thankful M. m. Gadsby,Charlotte C, John Jay m. Josephine Rosanna Smith; married (2) to Susan Hicks and their children were Jennie m. Fowler, Lavancha m.Lyon, Charlotte C.(named after first Charlotte C., whom died a few days after this Charlotte's birth) m. Chase, Ella Elizabeth m. Beardsley, and Sarah Urilla m. Washbon. I have some information on the descendants of Harvey W.,Thomas H.(moved to Iowa and descendants to Vancouver, Washington area),Thankful M.,John Jay and Sarah Urilla (Cook) Washbon. I also found a paper on Ebenezer Cook, son of Capt. Ira Cook of New Hartford, Oneida Co. b. 2/14/1810,married Clarissa C. Bryant at Unadilla, NY in 1833, Moved to Iowa 1835. d. Davenport, Iowa October 8, 1871. I found also a letter from Walla Walla, Washington regarding the lineage of Elias Cooke b. 8/14/1769 d. 12/1/1849 m. Lucy Hawley. It lists 14 children and then indicates that daughter Harriet m. Hiram Slade 9/15/1824 by Rev.Garvin. It lists their 7 children and it also indicates that Elias Cooke operated an inn in Otsdawa in Otsego County, New York and that Hiram Slade lived nearby. It also mentions that Elias Cooke is listed in the 1840 census in Butternut Township, Otsego County, New York. My "brick walls" are Robert Cooke b. abt 1652 d. 13 July 1704 Hog Island, Portsmouth, RI M. Thamer Tyler b. abt 1659, Portsmouth, RI, d. after 1704 Portsmouth, RI. at Portsmouth 5 Dec. 1678. I have been unable to find any positive information to the parents or place of birth of Robert. Their son Samuel was born 19 Dec 1695 at Portsmouth and married (1) Enfield Greene at Warwick, RI 25 Mar 1719. Their son Samuel Jr. was born at Warwick 26 July 1720. I can find nothing more about him. Did he marry? When or where did he die? Samuel Sr. married (2) Mary King 11 Oct 1728 at Tiverton, RI. Their son Robert and their daughter Sarah's son John are my ancestor's who moved to Otsego County, New York. Sarah's son John married Thankful Tripp. The question about John Cook is whether he was the son of Samuel Sr's daughter Sarah,by his second wife Mary King or was he the son of Samuel Jr. and a wife named Sarah? John was born 16 Nov. 1755, which would have him the son of Samuel Jr. at age 35 or the son of "aunt" Sarah when she was 21 and unmarried. Samuel Sr's will acknowledges a daughter Sarah and grandson John but is not clear about who Sarah was.

    2. Joe Cook
    3. Pat, Thanks for responding to my query. I have been researching your Cooks for about 1 year out of desparation in not being able to go back any farther on my line. Your Cooks seemed to be a good fit for mine, but as of yet I have found no link. I have some info on Burnet Cooks line, specifically his son Burnett and wife Thirza, and grandsons DeWitt Cook who became a well respected doctor in Iowa, and Seymour Cook, among others. I believe it goes Nathan>Burnet>Burnett>DeWitt. Anyways, I have been stuck on John Cook for years now. There are hundreds of John Cooks in New York in the early 1800s, and many of them fit. It will just take some persistence and digging to get at the truth! Keep in touch. If you would like any of my info, let me know. 1. [COOK-L] Re: COOK-D Digest V02 #10
    2. This is in response to Joe Cook. I have a Cook family in Tompkins Co. at the same time. My Cook connection is through a Sarah Cook who was born in 1809 in Genoa Co. but the family moved to Tompkins Co. in the 1820s. She had a brother John born in 1827. Her father was a son of a Burnet Cook who moved to this part of NY in the 1794. Their were a number of brothers in this family but no John's but he could be a son of one of them. Burnet's brothers were Silas, and Lot. There also was an Uncle Nathan and his family in the area. Hope this helps and gives you some names to look into. Pat

    3. Seeking information on John Cook born 1813 in NC (somewhere, but where?) . Johns father was James Cook ( know nothing more about parentage). The first record I have for John is in Anderson county, KY when he married Joyce Houchins in 1834. John and Joyce lived in Nicholasville until about 1842ish when they migrated to MO. The first 3 or 4 of their 11 children were born in KY. John was a farmer in MO. Sometime after 1880 he and Joyce moved to Texas. John died 1888 and Joyce 1898. Seeking researchers on this line for information. Have information I will share also.

They had at least 1 child, Philo Cook in Tompkins Co., NY in 1821. They were said to have moved to Ohio. If anyone has info on Finger Lakes area Cooks in New York, or any John Cooks from New York or Ohio, please contact me at [email protected] Thanks - Joe Cook
