    1. [COOK-L] Jacob COOK ( b. 1820 VA-d. 1877 MO)
    2. Angelia Byrum
    3. I am still seeking parentage and siblings of my Gr. grandfather Jacob COOK b. 05 Oct. 1820 VA-- d. 07 Nov. 1877, Henry Co., MO. He was married to Amelia( Milly) LONGBRAKE/LAMBRIGHT b. 11 Oct. 1832. Amelia was born in Shepardstown/Harpers Ferry, Jefferson Co., VA/WVA area. They were married circa 1854 not sure where. The LONGBRAKE/LAMBRIGHT family left the VA/WVA area for Henry Co., Iowa in 1854. I think Jacob COOK's mother may have been Mary C. WOMELDORF/WOMELSDORF b. Maryland. HIs siblings may have included John W. COOK, Henry COOK, Sarah J. COOK, Ann COOK, and Daniel W. COOK, as these are names included on the Jefferson Co., WVA CD. There is a Mary C. COOK age 54 and a Daniel W. COOK age 20 listed on the Jefferson Co., WVA census. Jacob COOK d. in Henry Co., MO and is buried in the La Due Christian Church Cemetery in Western Henry Co., MO. This is all I know. Any help or suggestions appreciated, Thank-you Angelia COOK Byrum

    1. [COOK-L] Nancy Cook
    2. Bird
    3. Since there is so much activity I will ask again for help in finding parents for my NANCY COOK born about 1753-54 She married STEPHEN JACKSON of Chesterfield Co. SC and Anson Co. NC-- they lived on the border of those two states. I think they married about 1771. Nancy Cook Jackson died in Humphreys Co. TN at age 99 in 1853. I had an email from the Cook list indicating that her father could have been Charles Cook who died about 1819 in Anson Co. NC. Unfortunately I noted that in my notebook and can't find the person who sent me the email. If anyone has the genealogy information on Charles Cook or his family, I would love to see it. Thanks Mary Harkey Russell [email protected] http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bird

    2. The DNA testing program provided by Family Tree DNA would help determine which lines are, and are not, related, and possible origins. As an example, my testing indicates a probability that mine came from Ireland or Wales. Glen Cook [email protected] writes: > WE'RE NO DOUBT NO KIN--BUT AREN'T COOK'S WONDERFUL PEOPLE? 1. [COOK-L] Fw: Measuring America: Decentennial Censuses 1790-2000 (pdf file)
    2. Carol De Priest
    3. Hi all, Neat .pdf file (but you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader - if you don't, download it free here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html ). Have fun, Carol Measuring America: The Decennial Censuses from 1790 to 2000 [.pdf] http://www.census.gov/prod/2002pubs/pol02-ma.pdf Since 1790, a US population tally has been administered and recorded every ten years. Measuring America, recently released by the Commerce Department's Census Bureau, documents this census of population from its initial start in 1790, when marshals counted 3.9 million US residents, to the year 2000, when the census totaled 281.4 million residents. This 149-page report traces the changes and growth of the US population by providing descriptions of the questionnaires used in each census, along with the instructions on how to complete them. The report also reveals how each census was conducted and information about its historical significance. On the whole, this document provides resourceful information for those involved with census-related research, as well as genealogists, historians, demographers, and others concerned with the evolution of the US population.
