    3. Sorry about doing this on the list, but I need to contact a lady who has been a member of this list and the e-mail address I have for her is not active. Would Wendy K Wilkerson (former address<wendykwilk@thurston.com>) please get in touch with me - a question on James Convis & Lucy Day has come up that I hope you might have some insight on. Or, if anyone has her address, please let me know. Thanks, Stephen

    1. [CONVERSE] Dorothy/Dolly CONVERSE RICHARDSON
    2. Hi everyone, I am still searching for the parents of Dorothy/Dolly CONVERSE who was of Sturbridge, MA when she marr. Abijah RICHARDSON on 4 Apr., 1807 there, but was probably not born there. Abijah is head of household in Charlton, MA in 1810. Can't seem to find any other CONVERSES in Sturbridge, but in Charlton in 1810 there is Willard, Uriah and Luke. And a Daniel in Spencer. Dorothy RICHARDSON is head of household in 1830, age 50-60, in Southbridge, MA, but Abijah did not die until 1857 in Southbridge, so this is strange. They are not buried in the main cemetery in Southbridge, as I was there and saw the books (all of them I believe). Might anyone know where they are buried? Don't have a date for Dorothy. I have seen the Edward Converse Gen. and although there are Dorothys they don't seem to be mine. Dorothy, dau. of Jude, did not marry Abijah Richardson. But I wouldn't be surprised to eventually learn that my Dorothy was also a descendant of Edward. I will try to get Converse wills of Worcester Co., MA, but was hoping someone might know something of these people in the meantime. Thank you and any info. will be very much appreciated. 1. Ancestry of Deacon Edward
    2. Mary Ann Kaylor
    3. I have just uploaded a Biography sent to me by Elaine Merrell who hosts the Windham Co. CT Web site. The biography is on Morton E. Converse but includes the original theory of the early ancestry of the Convers family. Go to the Converse Connectins Web site to view the entire biography. Morton descends from James s/o Edward. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~converse/index.html Thought I would post the ancestry here for those who might not have it: The Converse family to which Morton E. Converse, of Winchendon, Massachusetts, belong, is of ancient French origin. The early seat of the family was in Navarre, France, whence Roger de Coigneries, emigrated to England with William the Conqueror in the eleventh century. (I) Roger de Coigneries, to whom the ancestry of the American family has been traced, was born in France, about 1010. To him the Bishop of Durham gave the constableship of Durham. (II) Roger de Coigneries, son of Roger de Coigneries (I) lived in Durham, England. (III) Roger de Coiners, son of Roger de Coineries (2) lived in Durham and Sockburn, England. (IV) Galfred Coniers, son of Roger de Coiners (3) lived at Sockburn. (V) John Conyers, son of Galfred Conyers (4) settled and lived at Sockburn, England. (VI) Sir Humphrey Coigners, son of John Conyers (5) lived at Sockburn. (VII) Sir John Coigners, son of Sir Humphrey Coigners (6) settled at Sockburn. (VIII) Roger Coigners, son of Sir John Coigners (7) resided at Sockburn. (IX) Sir John Coigners, son of Roger Coigners (8), lived at Sockburn, died 1395. (X) Robert Coigners, son of Sir John Coigners (9) (XI) John Coigners, son of Robert Coigners (10) lived at Hornby, England. (XII) Sir John Coigners, son of John Coigners (11) resided at Hornby. (XIII) Sir John Conyers, son of Sir John Coigners (12) resided at Hornby. (XIV) Sir John Conyers, son of Sir John Conyers (13) resided at Hornby. (XV) Reginald Conyers, son of Sir John Conyers (14) resided at Wakerly. (XVI) Richard Conyers, son of Reginald Conyers (15) resided at Wakerly. (XVII) Christopher Convers or Conyers, son of Richard Conyers, was baptized 1552 at Wakerly, County Northampton. He married Mary Halford. Their children were: Edward, see forward; Mary, born 1590; John, 1593; Moses, 1595; Lucy, 1595; Joshua, 1596; Samuel, 1597; Noah, 1599. 3. Hi Converse Researchers, In case you haven't been to the new Converse Connections Web site lately, it has been updated: 1)Some Cemetery Listings in CT 2)Revised/updated Family of Deacon Edward Converse by attempting to put all theories, including citing sources. 3)Uploaded the original ancestry of Deacon Edward to World Connect 4)Added links to Windham Co., CT; Killingly, CT; Thompson, CT 5) Added a couple of Biographies (one is my greatgrandfather, Jeremiah Converse) Please feel free to comment or discuss Deacon Edward's family/ancestry. This List would be an excellent place for discussion. Even though we don't all agree, perhaps as a group we can discuss the different theories and come to a conclusion, if that is possible. I would welcome any documents/ resources/comments towards that end, as that is the purpose of the web site. Not just a listing of names & dates, which will come eventually if I ever get my database updated with more recent information, which will include all Deacon Edward Converse lineages known to me, not just my lineage. I will put a link to all 7 of these boards on the Converse Connections Web site soon. It was suggested that we should have a message board in which to discuss the ancestry of Deacon Edward Convers, the immigrant ancestor. Hopefully this will serve that purpose. As most of you know, there are two different approaches to the parentage of Deacon Edward. So what do you think? Which one is correct? I, myself, am still undecided. 1. Ruth CONVERSE & Ephraim FLAGG
    2. Rhett Owings
    3. First let me say to Mary Ann, thank you for the very nice CONVERSE website. I will be watching it grow. I have been trying to make a definite link to Edward for years. Perhaps someone out there has the answer: My gggggrandfather, Ephraim FLAGG married Ruth CONVERSE in Wilmington, Middlesex Co., MA in 1757. Their marriage was recorded in both Woburn and Wilmington VRs. I believe Ruth was born about 1734 probably in Woburn, MA. She and Ephraim owned land partly in Woburn and partly in Wilmington, according to land deeds. They had two children recorded in Wilmington VRs: Gershom FLAGG, b: 3 June 1758 and Ebenezer FLAGG b: 28 Sept. 1763. It is possible there was another son, Theodore, born ca 1775. Ephraim and Ruth sold their land and moved to Reading for a short while then to Mason, NH where they joined their son Gershom, about 1796. Ephraim died in 1814 (age 79) and Ruth died 2 Jan 1816 (age 82), both in Mason, NH where they are buried. I am trying to find the parents of Ruth. There were a great many Ruth CONVERSEs. I am sure there is a link to Edward CONVERSE, but through which son? Ephraim FLAGG's son, Ebenezer FLAGG, married Rebecca SHELDON, daughter of Ephraim SHELDON and Eunice FELCH. Edward CONVERSE's daughter, Mary (according to his will) married a SHELDON, as well. A clue, perhaps? I would appreciate any help with this. Thank you. You can find info about my FLAGG family on my Mason, NH website. Rhett R. Owings Living in CA, but loving NH USGenWeb town coordinator for Mason, NH http://home.earthlink.net/~georgeo/mason_nh.htm

    3. I am in the process of a new Web site for Deacon Edward Convers and his descendants. I have only just begun, lots of work to do. Don't have lineages up yet, but do have some resources, such as Wills, cemetery, histories, memoriams, etc.. I would like to make this site different than others, in that descendants can contribute any items of interest, photo's, lineages, biographies, wills, cemetery, etc. If you are a descendant, I welcome any additions you might be able to make. In the meantime, bookmark the site and keep coming back, this will take some time to input all that I have. I will probably put the lineages on World Connect in order to save time, after I feel I have updated/added all that I can. But the Page will connect to these lineages.
