    3. Hi Wishing all my fellow researchers a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2001. Although have been member of list for sometime, this is first time have posted this family. Passed down info says Nicholas came to Cda from Ireland as a young child with his family. Have not been able to establish where the family originally settled in Canada. Also no info on his siblings. The CONLIN name was spelled in records from 1850 - 1870 as CONLAN, during the 20 year span of 1870 to 1890 (including children's marriages) name was spelled mixture of CONLIN/CONLON. From the appearance of things it stablized in the 1890's to CONLIN. Nicholas' Will written in 1890, shortly before his death again spells the name as CONLAN, his son as executor used the CONLAN spelling. Joseph the son, was school trained and could read and write and owned numerous business, so do not know what to think of this. Nicholas CONLIN b. 1818 Ireland m. Elizabeth (Lizzie) CONLIN b. July 31, 1862 married January 08, 1883 to Jame GORDON b. May 24, 1858 in Cobourg, s/o Patrick Gordon and Mary (Unkn) They had one known child James Gordon b. aft. 1884 Hoping that after a two year brick wall I can make a break through on Nicholas CONLIN/CONLAN/CONLON. Also I have two CONLAN sponsors for the births, Joseph CONLAN and Rose CONLAN. Presuming they are related as children were namesakes of these two, but no idea of where they lived. Doesn't appear to be Cobourg, Ontario. After a two year brick wall, hoping 2001 will lead me to Nicholas' parents and siblings. Wishing everyone a good year for genealogy and that they are able track down their elusive ancestors. Chari
