Dated Thursday, June 18, 1925 Obituary Rosa Belle Schaffer was born in Polk County, Iowa, January 7, 1877, and died at her home, northwest of Monterey, Sunday, June 14, her age at the time of death being 48 years 5 months, 7 days. She was married to Nicholas Conlin, May 3, 1892, at Harlan, Iowa. To them were born five sons and one daughter, the first son dying in infancy. Those surviving besides the husband are Arthur, Burt, Jessie and Eddie and Mrs. Louis Pieper, all of Monterey vicinity. There are six granddaughters. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schaffer, of Sherburn of the Sherburn vicinity, three brothers namely Wm. J. Deed and Dewey, of this vicinity, and four sisters, Mrs. Geo. W. Raymond and Mrs. Wm. Lohse of Ceylon, Mrs. Noble Penniston of Canton, S. D., and Mrs. Roy Theobald of Manila, Iowa, also survive. The family moved from the Sherburn community about sixteen years ago, Mr. Conlin being engaged in the draying business st that time. The family services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Federated churches, Rev. John Nickerson officiating. ~Volunteer Posting.
