Pa. John Conlin and his wife Mary Malone. Wondering if this John could be one of the brothers you mention. John seems to have come to the US in the late 1840s; their children are all listed as being born in PA. They are Patrick born 1849, Francis b.1851, Catherine b.1854, Mary b.1856, Bridgt b. 1857, Michael b.1862, Thomas J. b.1864, John b. 1867, Joseph b. 1869, and Maggie E. b.1875. I think Maggie E. married a Thomas CHARLES and they stayed in Hazleton area. Thomas J. became a Catholic Priest and died in Braddock, PA in 1835. Do you think these are connected to your Conlins? Would be glad for any information.

Michael and Mary had the following children. Martin (great grandfather) b.1866, Stephen b. 1867-1868, Isabella b.1870, Lulu b.1874, Mary b.1876, Walter b.1879, George b. 1882, Lucy b. 1883, Margarette b. 1886, Francis (female) b.1888, and Catherine b. 1891. As many of you have found out the Conlins did not keep in contact with the rest of their family making it virtually impossible for us to trace them down as we don't know who is related to who. If you have any information please email me directly with the information. Thank You.
When you are thinking about New Year's Resolutions this year, please think about the words to this song; we cannot afford to lose another generation of young people. We - 30 million + in Canada and 300 million + in USA as well as the lovely people "down under" and those over the pond - can work towards peace. Doreen ----------------- "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me. Let there be peace on Earth, the peace that was meant to be. With God as our Father, brothers all are we, Let me walk with my brother, in perfect harmony. Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now. With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow, To take each moment and live each moment in peace, eternally. Let there be Peace on Earth, and let it begin with me." Daniel's wife's family moved to Philadelphia around 1890 - 1892. Family sources say that there were connections in Ohio and possibly Philadelphia. However, we believe that Thomas Conlon may have moved to US as his wife;s name may have been Eliza Bonds and this is not a common IRish name. We think he may have been born around the 1830's. We are unsure if he had brothers or sisters but it was more than likely he did as most Irish families were quite large. We dont know if Daniel had any siblings but he most probably did. If any of this sounds familiar then let me know. Iw ould be grateful if you would pass on any information you have. Thanks Terry

Hello, My gg grandfather was Michael Conlin born in 1831 in Roscommon, Ireland. His parents were Thomas Conlin and Anne Doyle who were married in 1826 in Keadue, Roscommon. Michael had one sibling that I know of - Mary baptized in Keadue in 1836. Michael moved to Lanarkshire, Scotland where in 1855 he married Mary Nelson of Leitrim, Ireland in the Roman Catholic church in Coatbridge, Scotland. Their children were Ann, Thomas, John, Mary, Catherine, James, Bridget and Michael all born in either Coatbridge, Lanarkshire or Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. As you can see, the sibling names are very similar to those in your family. If your family originated in Roscommon, Ireland I suppose it's possible that my Michael and your Martin could have been cousins. I am descended from Michael and Mary's son, Thomas Conlin - I came to America with my parents and my siblings in 1956 when I was 18. I now live in NY State. The sisters were Margaret and ? My mum also says that her grandmother was from Dundee and was known as "Dundee Lizzie." My grandad married Bridget (Brida) McDade and they had 3 sons: James, Stephen and Michael and my mum: Catherine. It would be good to hear from anyone with any further information. Thanks!

Hi. . .Appreciated your response, and I would assume that we are not from the same Conlin's. My father's side of the family were all from Arlington area of Vermont, and a generation or so before that from Ireland - the whereaboauts I do not know, haven't had much luck tracing them back. My father had one brother - Harley, both of them were born in Illinois. The brother died in the 70's, and my father in 1940. I was born in Oak Park, Illinois and raised there. Served in WWII, and afterwards married, had five children, and moved around a bit. First in TX, then FL, back to TX (Company move), to CO and for retirement here in FL. My wife passed away 7 years ago, and I lost my oldest son two years ago. WE owned ten businesses during our married lifetime, and I also served as a Professional Fund-raiser for 45 yrs, organizing, developing and directing major capital, endowment, and annual fund campaigns for colleges, universities, hospitals, youth, health & welfare orgns, art centers, symphony's, chambers of commerce, United Ways and Community Chests. My father founded his own company in Chicago eventually brought in two partners. His brother was a womens hat salesman, then later he and his wife owned a Womens Clothing store in eastern Illinois. I wish I did. Annette was a Fansler by birth. Her husband, Earl E. Conlin, grew up in Corktown, Detroit (the Irish area). He moved with his father to Ann Arbor, MI after a fire at the family cleaners business killed his mother and caused severe health problems for his father. He grew up at a small farm aftrer that ('w/ dirt floors'). He managed to put himself through the U. of MI during the Depression and raised 2 boys and a girl (my Mom) with Annette. They lived in Detroit and then Birmingham, MI. He worked for the ExCello Corporation and was on the Board at BCBS of MI. He became very successful. He died in 1975, I think - a year before I was born. His eldest son - James Earl - died about 3 years ago from heart failure (this was very sad - he was everyone's favorite). My other uncle - David Paul - and my Mom (with their respective spouses) both live in Birmingham still. Oddly, we know very little about the family (particularly the Co! > nlins) despite having moved very little over the last 100 years (at least). I wish I knew more and am trying to see if Corktown (now a historical neighborhood) can help me out at all. I think my Grandpa's family came from Northern Ireland and I think he was first generation - so no Vermonters. That doesn't mean, of course, that their isn't a connection. My Mom was told once that all Conlins (with an 'i') are related. I believe this is b/c it is a derivation of O'Connolly and one family all took that spelling (?). > > Sorry - that's really all I have... > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >
