Maureen: I will be most happy to try and ferret out any Con;in's. . my name is RAYMOND WILLIAM CONLIN, M.y... My father was Raymond William Conlin. which made me a Jr., but I dropped the Jr. when he died in 1940. My son also became the same, and would have been the III'd, but my wife insisted he be a Jr., so he wound up being R. WIlliam Conlin, Jr. We called him Bill. My grandfather, born in Sandgate, Vermont US was John Conlin. He is buried there. My father was born in Malta, Illinois. His Mother was Maude LaBrant, and is buried in Malta, Illinois as is my Father. My Mother was Lucile M. Buckley, born in Chicago, Illinois, and buried at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois. He Mother was Mary Jane Carden Buckley. Her father was John Carden, born inSligo, Ireland in 1832, to the US in 1856. I will search my records for other info on the Conlin's and respond with that data. My son and I had journeyedd to VErmont last September to search the Conlin's, found some data, but a lot of dead ends. I have also a roll of film that I took that has yet to be finished and developed of the Cemetery in Sandgate, VT. Take care. Thank you - thank you, for the information in re Conlin - Conlon. I will delve into it soon. In September my son Bill took a week off from his work, and the two of us journeyed to Vermont to do research on my father's side of the family - CONLIN. We took pics at the Cemetery just outside Arlington, near Sandgate, and found a cousin we knew nothing about, and spoke to people that knew my Grandfather. We returned on the 23rd, and my son drove across Florida to his apartment and to return to work. That was the last time I spoke with him, or saw him. He died enroute to work on the morning of November 13th. Now, I am without my right arm! Hi Wishing all my fellow researchers a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2001. Although have been member of list for sometime, this is first time have posted this family. Passed down info says Nicholas came to Cda from Ireland as a young child with his family. Have not been able to establish where the family originally settled in Canada. Also no info on his siblings. The CONLIN name was spelled in records from 1850 - 1870 as CONLAN, during the 20 year span of 1870 to 1890 (including children's marriages) name was spelled mixture of CONLIN/CONLON. From the appearance of things it stablized in the 1890's to CONLIN. Nicholas' Will written in 1890, shortly before his death again spells the name as CONLAN, his son as executor used the CONLAN spelling. Joseph the son, was school trained and could read and write and owned numerous business, so do not know what to think of this. Nicholas CONLIN b. 1818 Ireland m. Margaret QUINN b. 1835, Ireland (Kings County/Offally) In Cobourg, Ontario at St. Michael's Church (RC) Jan 7, 1850 Children all born and bapt. and married in St. Michael's Church in Cobourg, Ont (Northumberland Cty) but for two marriages as shown below. Mary Ann CONLIN b. May 28, 1851 married on July 02, 1874 to Patrick FLANNIGAN b. February 03, 1848 in Cobourg, ON s/o Patrick and Bridget (MCLEAN) They had 4 known children Joseph, Frank, Rosella, John between 1879 -1888 Francis CONLIN b. June 21, 1853 d. Sept. 29, 1877 Peter CONLIN b. July 21, 1855 d. as an infant Rose Ellen CONLIN b. December 21, 1856 married on September 15, 1880 to John DOYLE b. 1853 in Canada s/o Patrick DOYLE and Elizabeth SUTTON No info on this family beyond this, have feeling Rose Ellen died. Cathereine (Kate) CONLIN b. September 13, 1858 married on May 28, 1884 to Alfred Alonzo COONEY b. 1858 in Cobourg. On s/o Edward COONEY and Caroline M. MUNSON They were married in the Methodist Church in Cobourg Joseph James CONLIN b. May 22, 1860 married in St. Mary's Church, Port Hope, ON (Durham County) to Bridget CASSIDY b. October 26, 1864 in Port Hope d/o Cornelius CASSIDY AND Sarah (KATE) CADY. Had 4 children August Nicholas, James Cornelius, Arthur Sylvestor and Sarah Lorraine between 1887 and 1893. Elizabeth (Lizzie) CONLIN b. July 31, 1862 married January 08, 1883 to Jame GORDON b. May 24, 1858 in Cobourg, s/o Patrick Gordon and Mary (Unkn) They had one known child James Gordon b. aft. 1884 Hoping that after a two year brick wall I can make a break through on Nicholas CONLIN/CONLAN/CONLON. Also I have two CONLAN sponsors for the births, Joseph CONLAN and Rose CONLAN. Presuming they are related as children were namesakes of these two, but no idea of where they lived. Doesn't appear to be Cobourg, Ontario. After a two year brick wall, hoping 2001 will lead me to Nicholas' parents and siblings. Wishing everyone a good year for genealogy and that they are able track down their elusive ancestors. Chari
Happy New Year to all of you Conlin Researchers out there, We are researching the CONLIN and FARRELL Families from Ireland and Rhode Island. Owen Conlin married Anne Farrell in the Parish of Errigal Trough, Co. Monaghan, Ireland, in 1844. They came to America in 1847 and settled in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Sometime after 1880, Owen returned to Ireland and died in the town of Aughnacloy, County Tyrone, Ireland in 1885. Hope this rings a bell with someone!! Thanks Bev & Wayne

Hi list, My great grandmother was a CONLIN. I have had trouble seeking her family. They were farmers in Armagh, Northern Ireland. Her father's name was James Conlin and he married twice. James' father was Joseph. Her family was large, is anyone else out there researching this line? Kim D. USA
