Hi Marie, It sounds to me that, when your daughter comes over and uses your computer, she logs in under a different User ID than you. When she leaves, she is not "logging out" of your computer... your are simply "switching users" to yourself.. So, when you try to shut down the computer, it thinks that someone else is using the computer, when it is really her User ID that is still logged on "in the background". The solution is to have her "log off" when she finishes using your computer. That's my best guess. Regards, Kevin.
