Hi list, Can anyone help me? I got a new flash drive 4 GB. I have been adding genealogy to it. Tonight I plug it in to access some information and it tells me "it has not been formatted." I cannot get past that. If it needed to be formatted why was I not told this when I first plugged it in ? It is the same computer. Sue
Hi Sue, I hope you have a backup of what you put on your USB drive. As David said, you need to "eject" the drive before you remove it from your computer. The reason is that this will inure that all data has been properly written to the USB drive. Unfortunately, now, you need to take some relatively " technical" action to retrieve the data. See here for an example... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090711024237AAn1D6s Regards, Kevin.
