Hi all I have used Win 7 since about mid 2012 I think it was One thing I liked was the gadgets on the desk top I had a cpu/ram meter , a large analogue clock and two weather gadgets, showing the local weather Yesterday I had an update from Windows, on start up this morning I also had an update to Avast (which I use the free version of) Before I installed the Avast update I noticed the gadgets had not loaded, thinking it just a glitch I installed and rebooted as instructed Found the gadgets the same, weather ones and cpu meter in siloette and no clock at all So I deleted them and tried to reinstall, to find a message gadgets have been discontinued as they are a security threat One post I found on MS states there has been a warning about using gadgets since *mid 2012* So firstly are others aware of this, and secondly are there other similar gadgets available that others use I had a look at firefox add ons but none really fitted the bill Secondly how come its taken all this time to be brought to my attention?
