    3. Using Thunderbird to download messages (email) from Earthlink and Gmail accounts. Thunderbird has default folder titled "Local Folders" which can not be renamed. Trying to figure out how to setup folders for downloading email from Earthlink or Gmail -- should I create those folders under the TB "Local Folders" or create them in addition to "Local Folders" -- do not understand the way Thunderbird uses folders. Help appreciated. Rae Jean

    3. Hi Rae Open Thunderbird On the left you will find Inbox for whatever you use, gmail, Yahoo, Earthlink etc Right click on the Inbox and select New Folder Give it a sensible name and Create Folder However before you set out to do so, consider if you actually need folders at all I had oodles in outlook Express as otherwise it took ages to find a mail When I went over to Thunderbird I soon realised I was wasting a lot of time filing emails into folders, there was no point as Thunderbirds search is so far advanced compared to Outlook Express it was a simple matter to find any mail I still have my old folders which I imported from OE but only need to look in them once in a while, otherwise I have my Inbox and archive by year Its a whole lot simpler, quicker and easier than spending time filing in folders Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 24/02/2014 15:09, Rae Jean wrote: > Using Thunderbird to download messages (email) from Earthlink and Gmail > accounts. > > Thunderbird has default folder titled "Local Folders" which can not be > renamed. > > Trying to figure out how to setup folders for downloading email from > Earthlink or Gmail -- should I create those folders under the TB "Local > Folders" or create them in addition to "Local Folders" -- do not > understand the way Thunderbird uses folders. > > Help appreciated. > Rae Jean
