    3. My mother has been looking for a new desktop. She does not want a laptop. She has run across the all in one computers with the large screen. I think HP has a line called Envy. I haven't paid any attention to these since it's not something I'm interested in. Does anyone have any knowledge, experience, or opinions on these type of machines? 3. There are both pros and cons to an all in one -- for most being a con - if anything goes wrong, the whole thing has to be taken to the shop. Another con (in my opinion) is that most aren't expandable so you can't add anything (such as a better video card) that won't run through a USB port. Biggest pro is that they take less space as a general rule. If you decide to get one, make absolutely sure it has everything you need. 3. Lori, I purchased an HP Compaq Elite 8300 All in One. Looked very impressive and for a while worked well ( came with Windows 7 Pro ) installed. It worked for a few months, then suddenly gave up the ghost. Contacted HP Tech Assistance and no one could work out the problem. After a couple of months procrastination, HP replaced the computer. I have had a number of problems with this one, and in the last instance, could not get the problem fixed by the Indian technicians. Finally, fixed it myself. I have little faith in HP Tech Support, and if I get another problem, will get rid of all the HP baggage on the computer and install my own copy of Windows 7, which I have purchased in anticipation. Having said that, the computer is now behaving itself. It must be aware of what is in store for it. There are a number of All in One Computers available, and I suggest a Google search, particularly looking at Reviews. Hope you have better luck than mine. Ken Smart. -----Original Message----- From: Lori Camper Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2014 12:54 PM To: computers@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [COMPUTERS] Buying a new Computer.
