I hope it is alright to ask this question here as there are people here who understand all this computer 'stuff. Every morning for at least 3 months there has been the same patch from Microsoft waiting to be downloaded. It is --- Update for Windows XP (KB967715) Install this update to resolve an issue in which AutoRun features were not correctly disabled. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. How to Uninstall This software update can be removed via Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. Why does it come in over and over and is there something additional I should be doing?? Thank you, K Rizer
This is an update for WinXP 64, which you probably don't have, so it won't download. When I had a similar problem with an update, I went to Windows Update and hid the update. Perhaps I should try that. I have received the same update message for years and when I say install I always get the message that the installation failed. I too have Windows XP. Sort of weakens your faith [?] in Microsoft doesn't it? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Wilson" <robowil@earthlink.net> To: <computers@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 05, 2009 9:21 PM Subject: Re: [COMPUTERS] Update for Windows XP (KB967715) > This is an update for WinXP 64, which you probably don't have, so it won't > download. I have just downloaded Firefox. I am having some trouble keeping some windows open when I close a second window. This is especially irritating when I am doing research on Rootsweb World Connect; then I lose the page when I bring up another window. Any suggestions?
Hi Mildred I have been using Firefox for a while now, mostly favourably Not entirely sure what the problem is but suspect you may be using tabbed windows and losing other open tabs when closing a window I find the tabbed browsing very annoying and do not use it, I prefer a new window for each task/program or search If you go to Options (under Tools) in Firefox, select the *Tabs* button at the top, there are two options, open a new window or open a new tab, which is checked? There is also a check box below those "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" if thats not checked and you close a window with several tabs, it will lose those tabs which may perhaps be your problem ? I use Open a new window but that does not stop you opening a new tab within that window should you wish to (under file menu in the open window) Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) >I have just downloaded Firefox. This is a "Dummie" question, but please some kind person help me to understand.... If I download an updated driver for a printer, and put it on My Desktop, does it do anything, or cause any problems, or does it just sit there doing nothing until I choose "Run" ???? And if I want to get rid of it, can I just put it into the recycle bin with nothing left on the computer to cause problems? If I do choose to "run" it, then does it overwrite the original driver that is now installed? And if I want to uninstall the updated driver, how do you do that? I have never understood completely what the connection is between the Desktop and the Computer operation...I always thought that it just holds things until you need to "run" them. I have had enough problems in the last few weeks with my HP 2210 printer, and trying to get it to operate properly...and since I accidentally downloaded IE-8, the printer does not completely operate properly. There was a patch for IE-7 that took care of the problem, so I may download the patch and reload IE-7. It is so frustrating! I don't want to buy a new printer or computer...otherwise mine works just fine. Thanks for any help and clear explanations you can give me.
