Hi Budscan, You are absolutely right about checking carefully what you're signoing up for. I clearly clicked too soon and carelessly with this recent upgrade. AVG thinks Yahoo is my default browser, despite what is set in Control Panel, but that may have been fixed by following Bob's tip. Thanks for the advice.
