When I bought my laptop, the store made restore disks for me. I loaned the laptop to a granddaughter for several months. When the laptop was returned, the disks were not with it. I have wiped most of her old files, and have been told I can make a new set of disks. My questions is, what is actually copied onto a restore disk? Just the main factory installed start up items, or will it include the programs that also came with it, for which there were no hard copies? (I have added my own anti-virus/spy program and removed the trial programs that came with the laptop, and possibly some other items.) Hi Bea, The restore disks should have everything that was on your system when you bought it, in my opinion.  If you have lost the Restore Disks, perhaps you can get a new copy where you purchased the system or, at least, they can inform you how to obtain new ones.
