If you buy replacement cords for your specific device (same manufacturer, same model, etc.), there's no reason you can't have a duplicate set to travel with the device. However, most cords *are* generic, simply because it costs the device manufacturer less to use a standard cable than a custom made one. If you call tech support for the device, they should be able to tell you what cords are acceptable, or at least hand you off to their sales department, so you can purchase the correct ones directly from them.
