Hi Judith, It might be worth a try, as it is a free program and comes recommended... At any rate, I just wanted to note that there is a huge issue with Flash/USB Drives in that they actually have a limited life span with regards to the number of writes you can perform on them. Because of this it is advisable to use these media only for backups and not for the primary source of your database. Programs which store much data in a database (such as genealogy programs), make frequent writes to the database. This will reduce the lifespan of your Flash/USB Drive significantly. I just wanted to mention this in case you were doing this ! Can a USB thumbdrive "wear out"? http://ask-leo.com/can_a_usb_thumbdrive_wear_out.html Regards, Kevin. Good article, Kevin. Thank you for the link. I would have one bone to pick with it, however, where it says database applications are "notorious" for frequent disk writes. Yes, database software does write every change to disk the moment you hit Enter, but that's the way it's supposed to work. You change the database, it saves the change. I wouldn't consider that behavior "notorious." But as the writer states, it's a very good reason (and I can think of others) to not make a thumbdrive the primary storage medium for a database. I can't think of a good reason to use a thumbdrive for primary or permanent storage of *anything*. IMHO, they should be used for short term temporary storage only. --- On Tue, 9/1/09, Diana Gale Matthiesen <Diana@danishdemes.org> wrote: > From: Diana Gale Matthiesen <Diana@danishdemes.org> > Subject: Re: [COMPUTERS] Corrupt Folder on flash drive wont delete? > To: computers@rootsweb.com > Date: Tuesday, September 1, 2009, 11:26 AM > Good article, Kevin.
