Hi Robert, Thanks so much for your reply. The answers on this link were very specific and easy to follow. However, it did not work for me. When I look at the back up folder I can see a list of names and when I am doing the restore, at the part where you say "all folders or choose which folders" they are not all there. It is like I can see them in the folder, but the computer can't see them. I guess that means they have somehow become unreadable. I think It must be time to suck it up and get back at the genealogy work. Thanks to everyone that tried to help me.
