Hi Beth If I understand you correctly When you scan the document it treats it as a picture, the words are not distinguishable as its part of said picture, where you save it to is immaterial, its still a picture You would need to OCR the document (optical character recognition) most scanners come with some form of OCR software even cheapies Depending upon the capabilities of the OCR software it may do a servicable job or not, some are much better than others There may be a better way but the aboves one to try Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > > > I have Windows XP Home, and HP psc2210 all-in-one.
