    2. Lila, You may always check the list's archives to see if your posting did indeed get to the list. Having you own messaged come to you as well as all other list subscribers is, in my opinion, much easier, but you *can* always check the archives for any activity on the list. Here is the URL to check the archives of any Rootsweb list: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ Sharon Dulcich --------------------------------------- In a message dated 6/24/2009 3:43:28 P.M. Some list admins censor every post before allowing it to go through. Lila

    3. I forgot to change to plain text, and my earlier post to this thread was bounced by Rootsweb: "My opinion is that the list in question is being moderated for a (probably good) reason known to the admin. Nothing comes out on the list for a long time, then suddenly there's a deluge of messages including those gatewayed from the corresponding message board. Since he/she probably has a good reason for monitoring (I shouldn't have used the word "censor") it's okay--but another reason for needing one's own posts come back on the list." And again, not all lists are Rootsweb lists and have archives. 3. This is not timely because I forgot (again) to change to plain text, and it was bounced: "Yes, I understand the archives system and use it often. I subscribe to about 50 lists and participate in the discussions on some of them daily, less frequently on most of them. I can't keep checking the archives; therefore gmail is not for me. If it suits others, no problem, but complaints onlist that one's messages are not going through are a bit of a nuisance. Lists other than at Rootsweb do not always have archives.
