Ever since I rebooted my computer to get rid of what I thought were problems, I've been getting a sharing violation message when I try to save any of my microsoft products, such as word, Excel, etc. I end up saving versions that have random numbers and letters in them, and if I want to save my own name, I have to use another name, or add a number to the end of my original name. Then I have to totally get out of the system, and shut down my computer before I am allowed to go back in and delete my numerous versions of the same items that I've updated. I keep a running spreadsheet of my expenditures, so this is getting very irritating, since I tend to save, save, save, to make sure I don't lose any work. Is there a problem with how I reinstalled these products? My daughter says she gets the same things happening to her computer, and she did this reinstall for me. Perhaps the NAME/ID that I've got now on the reinstalled version is competing with some name my older works have on them? I really am irritated with this new thing, since I never had to deal with it before. What it actually says is: Your changes could not be saved to 'XXX.xls' because of a sharing violation. Try saving to a different file. Then it gives a random title, this last one was 45A41000. THEN, it asks Do you want to save the changes you made to 'XXX.xls'? (MY ORIGINAL NAME) I can answer Yes, No or Cancel. I chose Cancel. It starts being like a round robin where I can't save anything, but it keeps suggesting ways to save a file that has sharing violations. It's still ME doing the work, so this is getting in the way of my progress!! So, I save. To a file with a name I supply. Then I have all my old versions, the computer saves all the numbered versions as well, and then I have my newest iteration of the file. I can't delete any of them until I've closed out everything, shut off the computer, then opened everything back up. Please help!!! And keep in mind, I can't wrap my brain around complicated answers. Speak down to me, an old lady who loves to use this stuff, but doesn't understand how it works. I need to know how to fix this myself, and probably my daughter's as well. Hopefully, it will be a simple fix. (I did download updated versions of everything while rebooting, including IE8, etc.) Myra Herron
