My wife and I are both elderly. She is into genealogy. I do almost all the research for her and she does the rest. Our computers are Win XP Home. I have no problem with the free version of Zone Alarm but it is giving various problems for her. About the only time that her computer is connected to the internet is for updating. Anyone know of a free Firewall that is simple that could be installed in her machine. At one time I used the free version of Outpost but I don't know if that would be ok for XP or not. I know that XP don't recognize all firewall programs. Any suggestions? Joe
Joe If as you her access is limited as you say and you have good AV program the WindowsXP firewall would probably be sufficient Bob ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe Snow" <snowman31@localnet.com> To: "Computers" <COMPUTERS@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 16, 2009 8:17 PM Subject: [COMPUTERS] Fire Wall Problem : My wife and I are both elderly. I agree with Bob... Windows XP firewall would probably be sufficient Comodo is a GREAT product, in my opinion, but it may be a little too tricky for you to configure... Bob, thinking this matter over, I think that its worth taking a chance on. Like it said the only time that her computer is connected to the Internet is by me to update it. Thanks to all Rachel, Bob, Kevin etc. I have removed Zone Alarm and activated the Windows Firewall.
