    3. I have program, NUANCE Scansoft PaperPort 11 and don't know why it's on my computer. This is a definition I found about it: PaperPort’s large, clear item thumbnails allow you to visually organize, retrieve and use your scanned documents, including Word files, spreadsheets, PDF files and even digital photos. PaperPort’s Scanner Enhancement Technology tools ensure that scanned documents will look great. I have a Brothers Scanner/Printer which I am unable to hook up right, and want to know if this Paper Port program is in anyway necesary to operate the Printer I have. I would like to eliminate it from the control panel if not because it is a large program. . . 126.00 MBs Can anyone explain why I should need this, especially to operate my Brother's Printer. Thank you, Joan

    3. It looks like this is software that came with your scanner. I would NOT remove it. It may be simply an added enhancement for image management, but it could also be the software needed to actually do the scanning. Their web site describes what the software can do: http://www.nuance.com/imaging/products/paperport.asp The question is why it's showing up on your Control Panel. I would expect to find it on your Programs menu. Unless you load (open) a program, it's not using any memory, so there's no reason to remove it just because of its size.
