Hi to all of you who replied to my original answer. Thought you might like to know. My old 486 computer is up and running good as ever although I don't really need three computers. My computer Tech can't believe it is still running so well. My panasonic printer has never had a problem and is still running great too. I have had to replace my new printer twice and this is my third computer. Don't make anything like they used to. :-) Janet In a message dated 11/3/2011 2:25:42 P.M. I receive a message telling me that "FLOPPY DRIVES: FAILED." I pressed F1 for more information, it gives me this message: DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER. I did that to install the 2 disks. In the middle of disk 1, they asked to install another disk, which I had made, I did that and they installed Disk 1 some more and asked for another disk, which I also had made, they installed some more and then it stopped installing. So next I pressed CTRL-ALT-ESC to enter setup - which took me to a page with my computer information on it - under the section labeled "Boot Sequence: A, C, the name 'Virus Warning was flashing and it was marked ENABLED. Then I see that I only have A: drive, that my B: C: and D: are all gone. Now I need to restore B: C: and D: drives but can't get thru the System Disks to restore the computer. I use D: all the time and keep all of my work in it. I need it back as well as the other drives as B: to save work and of course C: are necessary. I purposely use this compute because it is not on the internet and after 2 crashes from the internet decided this was more reliable than my internet computers. I have known for sometime that I needed to get my work finished and save to a CD but foolishly I just kept using it. Hope you have not all fallen asleep by now from reading all of this but just wanted to give you as much information as possible in the hopes that someone or all of you might have an answer for me. I have 30 years of work in this computer and I am not usually a dodo head. :-) Thanks for listening, Janet In a message dated 11/3/2011 9:58:45 A.M.
