Hi, This is a little off topic of what you were talking about but thought I would throw in my 2 cents worth. Last year I downloaded Open Office with the understanding that it was compatible with Word. Discovered it was not and I couldn't open any of my word documents and they had the Open Office icon instead of the Word icon. I uninstalled Open Office and back to using Word and am also happy with it. Nancy In a message dated 11/14/2011 4:37:22 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Thank you Kevin. This is the best advice I have received. In response to other replies: I am not going to send it to another person to convert to an xls file, I will ask the person who sent it to save as an xls file and resend ; which she has done. I will not download Open office as I am happy with WORD and EXCEL 2000. Yesterday looking at the list of files to add or remove I noticed the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office System 76.14 MB listed. After I downloaded the CP and I tried to view the xlsx file my Excel 2000 would still not open it. How do I get my WORD and EXCEL to recognize and use the the CP? bob gillis :-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~: Please refrain from posting commercial URLs and from discussing prices on the list.
