Thank you Kevin. This is the best advice I have received. In response to other replies: I am not going to send it to another person to convert to an xls file, I will ask the person who sent it to save as an xls file and resend ; which she has done. I will not download Open office as I am happy with WORD and EXCEL 2000. Yesterday looking at the list of files to add or remove I noticed the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office System 76.14 MB listed. After I downloaded the CP and I tried to view the xlsx file my Excel 2000 would still not open it. How do I get my WORD and EXCEL to recognize and use the the CP? bob gillis
Hi Bob, Did you insure that you did the verification of all updates to the 2007 Compatibility Pack? To verify that you have all of the latest updates to the Compatibility Pack, visit the Microsoft Update Web site again: http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us ---------- Possible Solution here... http://www.msofficeforums.com/excel/2449-office-compatibility-pack-will-not-open-xlsx.html ---------- I suggest that you ask the question on an MS Office forum... MS Office Forums... http://www.msofficeforums.com/microsoft-office/ http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f57/ http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum Unfortunately, the underlying problem is the lack of support, of MS Office 2000. I would suggest, at least, upgrading to MS Office 2003, which is a decent product. Hope you have success! Regards, Kevin.
