Hi George Thanks for your input The odd thing is the images are virtually the same, mostly census images from Ancestry I can save one , no icon, save the next its got the icon, this has only just started happening and so far I haven't found the difference between those with and those without the padlock On the email problem I should have said, I use thunderbird, I have two accounts fed into Thunderbird, my old Sky email address which I still receive on but don't send and my later gmail address I am using to send this from When selecting to send an image to an email recipient it appears to default to the first account, which of course is the one I don't want to use, I can't find a way of reordering the accounts to hopefully make it default to my chosen account Nothing I have done seems to fix it, even changing the email address within the old account details, it comes up correctly but wants to send it through the old Sky account even with the wrong email address As I say its not the end of the world but would like to crack the problem at some point I have also checked my computer user profile which didn't have an email address in it, I entered one but that made no difference, it always wants to default to the first account Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 03/01/2014 16:57, George Elting wrote: > 1) it's possible that your images have different metadata that indicated > the status of the image. Many thanks for your email George. I hope you are right and I hope no one is taken in. Hi All, I may have been hit by a hacker and I would appreciate some advice. I have received about 200 bounced emails, i.e. emails returned to me purporting to have come from me but couldn't be delivered because of a problem with the address. I didn't send them and they are not in my sent box and they are of the type "I am stranded and need money". But they don't appear to be using my contact list as I have checked on a few and they have received nothing untoward from me. But if 200 odd bounced how many got through and can I do anything about them when I don't know where they have gone. I have changed my password and done a scan and am about to do a full scan. What else can I and should I do. Any advice on what I should do or info on what has happened would be much appreciated. Christine I am on Windows7 and Windows Live Mail backed up by Yahoo. I am normally very careful about emails purporting to be from BT as many of them are actually from fred.bloggs, say, and I also check on the link I am being sent to before I click it in case that is duff. The emails are not in my sent box either on Yahoo or Windows Live Mail. I don't want to change my email provider as I am used to this system and normally don't have problems.
Hi all A couple of questions re Windows 7 On some saved images I am getting a small padlock on the saved image icon, it does not happen on every image icon, there does not appear to be a pattern to it Googleing suggests its to do with a private or public folder, but these are in the same folder and I have not changed any settings recently as far as I am aware I can still open all the images, I just wanted to know why its happening and preferably stop it ============ Question 2 When I go to an image in any folder with a view to sending that image to a mail recipient When I select "send to" then "Mail recipient" it opens a new mail with the image attached, no problem there but it defaults to my old email address and try as I might I can't find where its drawing the old email address from Has anyone an idea where to change this, its more annoying than critical but have put up with it until now and would like to resolve it -- Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK)

1) it's possible that your images have different metadata that indicated the status of the image. I get the same thing on images I download that are copy protected in the metadata, 2) If you are using Gmail, check your profile to see which address(s) are associated with your account. Hi Maureen You answer your own question if they ask you to fax, email or mail it They would not give you an automated form to mail back As I said previously you will need to print it and use one of the options they give you The reader will not make a difference Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 29/12/2013 15:33, Maureen Ellen wrote: > Hi Vanessa and Nivard, > > Thank you both for your help. > > This is a form provided online by my Internet Provider which I can use to upgrade my subscription to them. Hi Maureen Not all forms are created to be filled in online You may need to print the form and fill it in and post or scan and send it If you don't have a scanner, use a digital camera, most will take a good enough picture Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 29/12/2013 08:13, Maureen Ellen wrote: > I have downloaded an application form which I need to complete and submit online. It may not be an interactive form. To "tell" it to use Adobe Reader you have to download it and save it where you can find it. Then launch Adobe Reader, select "open" and then browse to the form. If that doesn't work, then you will have to print it, fill it out, and then fax, or scan and email. If the file didn't open with Adobe Reader, then open Adobe Reader. Open File in the upper left corner. Select Open from the menu and find the file you want to open. Like Nivard said not all files will accept entries. Hi Vanessa and Nivard, Thank you both for your help. This is a form provided online by my Internet Provider which I can use to upgrade my subscription to them. Thanks Myra.I have been using Heritage Quest through the local library lately. It has a the census but a couple of years. In fact the they have the 1940 indexed by each individual now. Since I am still on dialup, it is much faster than Ancestry.com. Thanks for the offer and I will keep it in mind.
