Hi everyone, I had a window pop up on IE saying I should upgrade Java........so I did. Now I can't get in to a few sites. I have gone in to Tools/Internet Options/Security/Trusted Sites and entered the sites I want it to allow me in to but it still won't. Should I uninstall Java then install it again? Thanks for any suggestions. Marg >From the Beautiful British Columbia Cariboo Region, Canada
Yes, because if it is, when you click on the pop-link it installs malware. On Fri, Jan 17, 2014 at 2:21 PM, Viki Scheldrup <scheldrup@nemont.net> wrote: > Hi List, > I was wondering the same thing! Hi Listers, Would someone be able to help me, I have a window that keeps popping up frequently, from Microsoft that says Windows detect a hard disk problem, Back up your file immediately, I have 2 hard drives E. Hi List, I was wondering the same thing! I get so many pop ups telling me my computer is going to crash, I need to fix my Shockwave, my browsers are out of date, etc that I want to sling something through the screen. I have updated EVERYTHING and they still come. Check to make sure this isn't your case Margaret. Hi Sara You don't say which browser you use so it may not be relevant I use Firefox and there is a useful addition called reminderfox http://www.reminderfox.org/ I have used it for quite some time and am very happy with it Easily configured for single events or every week/fortnight/month or year etc It pops up a reminder on screen for whatever length of time you desire (ie 5 days for birthdays to allow for sending a card for example) I use it for birthdays, anniversaries, special dates, events etc If configured to repeat every year it does so without intervention on a rolling basis An icon sits in the browser search bar and one click brings it up Adding and completing reminders is very easy and quick If using firefox its well worth looking at and is free There is much more to it if you want to take a tour of it Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 14/01/2014 14:17, NEWBIETAYLOR@aol.com wrote: > Hi, > Can anyone recommend a calendar program to meet my needs which are: > 1. Hi, Can anyone recommend a calendar program to meet my needs which are: 1. Automatically transfers fixed data to next calendar year. 2. Plain and simple, no special headings. 3. Printable 3. Simple to use. Easy to edit. 4. Willing to purchase, but would love a free download. I use Word 2010 which has many calendar templates, but have not found one where fixed data, such as birthdays, are automatically rolled into the next year. Thanks, Sara

I prefer that my power option read "never" on all items. I can change the monitor to "never" and it soon changes back to 20 minutes. I had this problem some time ago but I don't remember how I fixed it. The other two option stay set on never without changing. Anyone have a fix for making the monitor stay on "never". Joe
Hi Nivard, Search does seem good, but I may to set in my ways to abandon filing. The solution may be to file early, rather than leaving it for months at a time. Many a secretary might agree! Hi folks, I use Thunderbird for my emails. I want to do some filing into folders of the vast number of emails in my Inbox. If I search on a name or somesuch I can locate the emails I want, but I can't select any from that list to move them to another folder. I can do this at work where I have to use Outlook and just assumed it would be similar. Any suggestions on how to do this without having to keep going back to the Inbox? Cheers, and a very happy New Year to all. Robyn
Hi Marg I can't give the ins and outs of it now as its over two years since I went from Outlook Express to Thunderbird The reason at the time was the move from XP (forced through computer failure) to a new laptop with Win 7 OE was not available with Win 7 so I tried Thunderbird and was very pleased with it In OE I can remember having great problems finding certain emails, despite having a filing regime, if I filed it correctly all was well but should I have put it under something a little ambiguous it could be difficult to locate again I have no such problems with TB, when I want a saved mail its very easy no matter what I want to search on I had used OE for some years and can assure you the Thunderbird search is far superior to OE Neither have I had the problems I had with OE on more than one occasion of emails disappearing into thin air Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 04/01/2014 15:25, Margaret Cambridge wrote: > > Nivard, > I can find anything in any folder the same way using Outlook Express Find. > > From; To; Subject; Message; Received before; Received after; Message has > attachment; Message is flagged. > So is there something else that makes it easier that I'm not seeing? > > Marg >>From the Beautiful British Columbia Cariboo Region, Canada
Hi Robyn I was also set in my ways when I swapped over I have not looked back and can easily find email in my archives with ease, much quicker than through the many folders I brought forward from Outlook Express I am now starting my third year archive I have not regretted stopping filing one jot, I have many other more interesting things to do than spend time doing that Just as an exercise, move or copy all the emails in your inbox to a new folder called archive 2014 Now try and find a few different emails Go to the archive folder and use the filter function, you can filter for sender, recipient, subject or in the body of the mail Its just so quick and easy I personally don't see any advantage to spending hours filing You can also use the search box but I find that brings up to many options at first Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 04/01/2014 13:38, Robyn Waymouth wrote: > Hi Nivard, > > Search does seem good, but I may to set in my ways to abandon filing. > The solution may be to file early, rather than leaving it for months at > a time. Hi Robyn I used to use Outlook Express and spent much time filing emails of interest, mainly to enable me to find them with ease Since using Thunderbird, now for some time, I quickly found it was a pointless process As the search in Thunderbird is so good, all I do is archive by year I can find any email in seconds, so why waste my time filing them ? Archiving by year keeps the inbox clearer and emails easily accessible Just a thought Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 04/01/2014 07:01, Robyn Waymouth wrote: > Hi folks, > > I use Thunderbird for my emails.
