Hi Kay, Arcade frontier comes in with some games played in facebook and I found it very hard to get rid of. I found a small download for toolbar removal and removed it and went to Computer uninstall programs and removed it from there too. I had to remove the games that use Arcade Frontier from facebook. Kay, I have been watching your poste of 1/30/2014 as I was having the same problem with something that down loaded with Google Chrome. I deleted Google Chrome but the add on stayed. This is what I did using Windows 7 : 1. Click search and enter add ons 2. Click manage browser add ons 3. Click programs 4. Click manage add ons 5. A screen appears showing all add ons 6. Find the add on you are having trouble with and either click disenable or remove I hope this works for you. It is no guarantee on my part. -----Original Message----- From: computers-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:computers-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of PastTracker Sent: Friday, February 07, 2014 4:03 PM To: computers@rootsweb.com Subject: [COMPUTERS] Arcade Frontier Hello Computers, Can anyone tell me how to kill the ads from ARCADE FRONTIER? Hi everyone, My PC which runs XP Home edition has been freezing when it is turned on but I am not using it - it is OK when I am using it. I turn it off at the tower and then turn it back on and it is OK to use. I would appreciate advice re this problem, do I need to get a technician to look at it?. I am not very computer literate - I have done a defrag and a disk scan which has not solved the problem. Hoping someone can advise me, happy hunting, Annette WATSON Lismore Australia
Hi Annette, It may be that your computer is going into "Hibernate Mode" when you leave it on, but don't touch it for a while. If you do not want this to happen, you can change the settings. Here is a document from Microsoft that explains things... http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows7/sleep-and-hibernation-frequently-asked-questions Regards, Kevin. Oxfordshire Family History Society's computer-flavoured talk this coming Monday (3 February 2014) is entitled :- Breaking down brick walls in your family history research. It will be presented by Mark Bayley of S&N Genealogy. Mark says that his talk will look at how to resolve stumbling blocks in your family history research using new and unique search strategies to find those missing relatives. He will illustrate techniques including how to search for a family using just the individuals' forenames and the use of keyword search tools using criteria other than a name to search on. The talk also covers unique data sets such as non-conformist records, non-parochial records, Fleet marriages, will images, parish records, military records, directories, newspapers and the like. Mark is currently working as the head of the online division and is company director at S&N Genealogy, and has been involved in many aspects of genealogy and the family business from an early age. The talk will commence at 7:30pm, with doors open from 7:15pm, at the Exeter Hall, Oxford Road, Kidlington, OX5 1AB. Directions are at _www.ofhs.org.uk/ExeterHall.html_ (http://www.ofhs.org.uk/ExeterHall.html) . All are welcome, including non-members of the society. The talk will be summarised in a future edition of the "Oxfordshire Family Historian".
