    3. Hi Donna Try gmail instead and you rarely even have to think about spam I have never marked anything as spam, nor do I need to Once in a while one creeps through but its rare I check gmails spam folder once a month or so and on a rare occasion I may find a legitimate message in there, I mark it as not spam and its returned to the inbox IMHO if you are wasting time training your spam filters, you are using the wrong emailer Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 25/02/2014 14:07, Donna wrote: > I use a web based program for my email. 3. Starting today I get the following error: Secure connection failed www.mozilla.org uses an invalid security certificate. Using Thunderbird mail and Windows 8. earlier today I uninstalled Avira and installed Avast. While downloading Avast I got several unwanted items which I uninstalled through the control panel. I tried posting to the thunderbird site but it wouldn't post. It appears others have had the same problem but I wasn't able to find a solution. Thanks in advance, Mary-- BTW I am still receiving my mail, but seeing that error message every time worries me. --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! I was wondering that when it shows up my junk folder if I mark it as +s--p-- a++m, is the program learning that the content of the email is bad or the address will be flagged in the future. -- Donna in north eastern, Indiana, USA

Do you have to do the same for a web based program, if so does it recognize the +s--p-- a++m by the content or the address? I guess what I'm trying to say is when I receive an email from someone that has been ha-cked and mark it as +s--p-- a++m, will it always recognize that address and but in junk or go by the content of the email? -- Donna in north eastern, Indiana, USA

    3. Hi Rae Open Thunderbird On the left you will find Inbox for whatever you use, gmail, Yahoo, Earthlink etc Right click on the Inbox and select New Folder Give it a sensible name and Create Folder However before you set out to do so, consider if you actually need folders at all I had oodles in outlook Express as otherwise it took ages to find a mail When I went over to Thunderbird I soon realised I was wasting a lot of time filing emails into folders, there was no point as Thunderbirds search is so far advanced compared to Outlook Express it was a simple matter to find any mail I still have my old folders which I imported from OE but only need to look in them once in a while, otherwise I have my Inbox and archive by year Its a whole lot simpler, quicker and easier than spending time filing in folders Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 24/02/2014 15:09, Rae Jean wrote: > Using Thunderbird to download messages (email) from Earthlink and Gmail > accounts. > > Thunderbird has default folder titled "Local Folders" which can not be > renamed. > > Trying to figure out how to setup folders for downloading email from > Earthlink or Gmail -- should I create those folders under the TB "Local > Folders" or create them in addition to "Local Folders" -- do not > understand the way Thunderbird uses folders. > > Help appreciated. > Rae Jean

    3. Thanks for trying to help me, Kevin. Yes I am using Windows 7 Home Premium Current capacity-872 GB free of 919 Yes If I start a new document I can save, change, copy, paste etc. No I have not tried saving the files with a new file name. Don't know how to do that? Have not tried the DOC file way either, don't know how to do that The presentations are coming from my old XP computer I send myself a copy via email, open them, work on them but the changes can't be saved. I would be grateful for just the text. I don't know how to open anything in notepad. How do I find it? So sorry for being ignorant of these things. I'm so grateful for you taking the time. Other than the 4 you referred to, are you able to save other Word Documents to the same hard drive folder? Have you tried saving the file with a different file name? Have you tried to save the file as a DOC file? Just a thought, but it sounds as if you may be importing something strange along with your presentations when you cut and paste. What program are the 'presentations' coming from? Do you need to import the formatting or just the text of the presentations into Word? 3. Hi, I have XP on my PC and realise that I need to upgrade to Windows 7 home or Pro. My PC is now 7 years old and running very slowly (at times), so, I have decided to bite the bullet and my bank a/c and purchase a new PC. I have Eudora 7.1 (free edition) and have been very happy with it, will it work as well using Windows 7 Home or Pro. Some of my family history CDs will not run on Windows 7 so I am thinking of have a split something and having XP on one half and Windows 7 on the other half. A technician has advised me that it would be better to have Windows Pro rather than the Home edition to do this. I do have a laptop using XP so maybe it would be better to keep this for running the CDs (but I will also need to upgrade this computer to Windows), would it be better to have the Pro edition on the laptop? and just have the home edition on my PC. I would appreciate your expert thoughts on this - I am not tech savvy and would be guided by your ideas and experiences. Happy hunting, Annette WATSON Lismore Australia
