Not the Office versions, at least through the 2010 version. The web based Outlook took the place of Hotmail. Here is the Wikipedia explanation: Outlook.com is a free web-based email service run by Microsoft. One of the world's first webmail services,[3] it was founded in 1996 as Hotmail (stylized as HoTMaiL) by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith in Mountain View, California and headquartered in Sunnyvale.[4][5][6] It was acquired by Microsoft in 1997 for an estimated $400 million and launched as MSN Hotmail, later rebranded to Windows Live Hotmail as part of the Windows Live suite of products.[1][7] The last version was released in 2011.[8] As of 2011, Hotmail had 360 million users per month.[9] It was available in 36 different languages.[10][11] In 2013, Hotmail was replaced with Outlook.com, which features Microsoft's Metro design language, and closely mimics the interface of Microsoft Outlook. It also features unlimited storage, Ajax, and integration with Calendar, OneDrive, People and Skype.[12 Aloha Wayne, NH6K -----Original Message----- From: computers-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:computers-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Nivard Ovington Sent: Friday, March 28, 2014 9:48 AM To: computers@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [COMPUTERS] which email program is the best to use? Just an observation really Some time back (March 2013) Sky changed from Gmail to Yahoo As soon as I heard I created a new Gmail account and swapped all lists over onto it and to the best of my knowledge receive all mail to all lists and virtually no spam (perhaps 1 per month) I have been in contact with others who initially stayed with Sky and therefore Yahoo and have had problems ever since I kept the Sky / Yahoo address as incoming mail only so I can still be contacted from the many earlier posts I have made and every day I receive spam purporting to be from Sky "your inbox is full" , "we are updating" etc - click this link and various I receive more spam per day on the Yahoo address yet haven't sent from it in over a year, than I do on gmail in a month or more Why do people still use Yahoo? -- Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK)
Hi Barbara, You simply need to remove the Hard Drive from your old computer and attach it to the EZ-Connect device. (Make sure you use the correct connector for your hard Drive type... 2.5" IDE, 3.5" IDE or SATA... it should be obvious, but the IDE connectors are similar... watch that you don't force it or break any pins!) http://kingwin.com/products/cate/accessories/adapters/usi_2535.php When you plug the EZ-Connect into your new Win 8.1 computer, via USB, your Old Hard Drive will show up as a New Drive in File Explorer and you will be able to access, copy, move the data files as you wish. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-8/search-file-explorer Regards, Kevin. Hi Carolyn, I have been running Windows 8 for some time now, and didn`t like it at all at first. I then upgraded to Windows 8.1 (free download from Microsoft) and now enjoy using Win 8.!. May I suggest you subscribe to newsletter@howtogeek.com which provides a great deal of help. Also, if you download and install Classis Shell, you can start Windows 8 just as you did XP or 7. I`m a couple of months shy of 89, and if I can easily manage it, anyone can. Go for it!! My Mom is in her late 70's and I am about to turn 60. Mom has so much stressing her out right now (my Dad's and her bad health), and she is NOT looking forward to having to change. I will probably adapt to it better than she will because I like computers. Uh... well ... let me rephrase that... I have a "love-hate" relationship with computers. I love them when I can get them to do what I want and I hate them when they don't do what I want. LOL! Anyway, I will be setting up my new computer shortly. Mom's is also being installed this weekend. Thanks again.... Later... Ken, I just went from Windows XP to 8.1 a couple of days ago and find it fairley to use. I'm not very happy with the picture folders though it's probably a matter of getting used to it. I'm used to doing a lot of organizing and re-organizing my pictures and it does look easy to do that. Nancy PS I'm in my seventies! -----Original Message----- From: Ken Smart <ksmart1@optusnet.com.au> To: computers <computers@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sun, Mar 23, 2014 5:16 pm Subject: Re: [COMPUTERS] Windows 7 tips Hi Carolyn, I have been running Windows 8 for some time now, and didn`t like it at all at first. Also, if you download and install Classis Shell, you can start Windows 8 just as you did XP or 7. I`m a couple of months shy of 89, and if I can easily manage it, anyone can. Go for it!!
