    3. Did you receive my previous email about the procedures on this site? http://www.insideoe.com/backup/ They are complete, detailed and work for OE6. It is quite simple, but you must keep note of where you save your backed up files. So the steps are as follows... OLD COMPUTER a) open OE6 b) backup your MAIL and NEWS Accounts to a KNOWN folder on your hard drive c) backup your current OE6 Address Book to a KNOWN folder on your hard drive d) backup your current OE6 Mail Folders to a KNOWN folder on your hard drive e) copy these backup files to a CD or USB Drive for transfer to your new computer NEW COMPUTER c) insert the CD or USB Drive and copy the backup files to a KNOWN folder on your NEW hard drive d) open OE6 e) To restore your mail folders, open OE and click File | Import | Messages | OE6 | Message store directory, then browse to the folder containing your old messages. IMPORTANT Do not copy the backup files into the current OE message store or the import will fail. If you saved your backup on a CD or a networked drive, you will need to copy the backup to your hard disk and verify that none of the *.dbx files are marked as "read only", or the import will fail. 3. Kevin, Okay, I just took the plunge and gave it a try after hopefully absorbing the proper portion of the information you sent, and I THINK I just successfully backed up my wife's Personal Folders from her Outlook 2000. The true "test of the pudding" will be when we get her new computer set up and I try to export the backup back into what will be a new installation of Outlook 2007. I've done it from Outlook 2003, and all you need to do is copy the Outlook.pst file in 2003 and replace the one in 2007 with it and go on. You can't do that with 2000 though, but based on the size of the file (400+ MB) I am judging that I have a backup with everything in it to import to 2007. I thank you for the information and suggestions. It looks at this point as if it is going to work. FWIW, I tried to follow the directions a week or two ago and could not make it work for some unknown reason before receiving your reply, but it worked like a charm this time so I presume I did something wrong the first time. :-( David E. 3. David, I looked into that, because I've successfully move it that way with an Outlook.pst file from Outlook 2003, but note this is Outlook 2000 and it is my understanding you cannot do it that way with 2000. For starters, the file is FAR FAR SMALLER than it should be for all the folders and messages in it. Thank you anyway for trying. I need to back it up into a file that can then be imported into Outlook 2007. David E. Cann Sent: Tuesday, March 24, 2009 1:06 PM To: computers@rootsweb.com Subject: [COMPUTERS] Backing up Outlook 2000 In a few words, can anyone out there tell me in simple steps how to backup an Outlook 2000 personal folders account for import into Outlook 2007? There used to be a backup tool that you could install as an add-in for Outlook 2000, but I have searched and searched the MS web information and can only find one that supposedly starts with Outlook 2002.  Does that mean it won't work for 2000 to at least create a backup that will then work in 2007?  I know for a fact there is (or at least WAS) such a thing for 2000 because we once had one, but if such a thing is still available then I cannot find it. Can it be as simple as copying the Outlook.pst file in 2000 and simply moving it to 2007, as I did with my own Outlook 2003 file some weeks ago? For various reasons, my wife opted NOT to make the change to Outlook 2003 when I did several years ago and now it appears we may be "painted into a corner" as a result.  We've bought us each fancy new computers with Outlook 2007 pre-installed, and I had no difficulty at all moving the Outlook.pst file and am sending this message from it now installed, but I can find nothing to tell me definitively how to do the same thing in Outlook 2000. If there are any "Outlook experts" out there who can guide me to a resolution to my problem, I would be eternally grateful.  I will keep searching for the answer in the meantime, but I've sure not made much progress toward that end so far.  :-( David E. The software just kept reproduce itself, whatever I did.   Anyone any idea or any software which definitely will get rid of it.   Kind regards,   Rach

    3. SNIP A month or two ago I lost the ability to play movies on my Windows XP computer. Frank - Are the videos flash movies or quick time? I ask because I was having trouble playing any video that should play in Media Player. The video would be in like 3 colors and in negative, also. I downloaded this file from Microsoft and installed it and this fixed it: WM9CODECS.EXE This is designed for Media Player 7 through 9 Tom

    3. In a few words, can anyone out there tell me in simple steps how to backup an Outlook 2000 personal folders account for import into Outlook 2007? 3. What program are you using for e-mail? If you have using Outlook Express, click on "file", "export", "address book", which will save to a file. You can then transfer to new computer, where you can open by "import" from file menu. ----- Original Message ----- From: "rwal" <rwal@insightbb.com> To: "Post Computers" <Computers@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 24, 2009 12:38 PM Subject: [COMPUTERS] Transfer EMAIL Address List > How can I transfer all my Email address list from one computer to a new > computer? > > Bob > >
