Thanks Judith. I actually had to resend it to get it posted... perhaps I sent it as HTML instead of TEXT the first time ? Regards, Kevin. Hi Mary, I have no issue with the GMail not sending a copy of my post, as it attaches my SENT copy to the email chain. This works well and is not at all a problem. The issue, for me, is that I am not ever sure if the message is actually being posted to the {COMPUTER] list at rootsweb. I realize that I have to send in TEXT format as opposed to HTML format, which I find annoying, as I do ALL of my email work in HTML and Rich Text format. I am talking hundreds of emails a day. So I have to remember to switch my GMail message to TEXT format before I send the email, in order for it to be posted to the list. There have been a few times that I have posted a message, certain that I had sent the email in text format, however, later I found that it had not been posted to the list. That was my only issue. Again... my apologies for my frustration. Regards, Kevin. Kevin, Your posts are coming through. Gmail does not send you a copy of your posts. There is a way to enter something in the properties of the email account but I don't remember what it was. I had it on my old computer but lost it in a crash. You had to go to tools, accounts, mail, properties and add a word in the pop. ????. One drawback was you got a copy of every email you send. Hi Bea I can assure you the default is not to get a copy of your own posts with gmail I have the scars to prove it <g> According to gmail its to "help stop clutter in your inbox" You presumably have had a setting changed at some point as thats the only way it works, if you didn't do it perhaps someone set it up for you ? Hi Janet May I ask why you don't switch it off at night? It can't do it any good continually working when not needed and wastes electricity and therefore costs more to run I use Ccleaner last thing before shut down to clear cache etc and find its much more reliable (fatal thing to say with computers I know :-) Perhaps giving it a kip each night will make it feel better with itself <g> Best wishes Nivard Ovington, in Cornwall (UK) >I am running Presario Laptop, Vista Home Premium. > > I do not turn the computer off every night.
Hi Nirvard, Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately I have discovered that it is not an option in 2007 apparently. I have since discovered a freeware floating toolbar which docks to the side of my monitor is doing the job nicely. I hadn't realised how much I relied on the office tool bar until it disappeared! Google mail doesn't send you a copy of your own message, an annoying "feature" of gmail, so perhaps this is why you believe your messages haven't reached the list. If you've posted recently and don't see a copy of your message in the list archives, try posting again, making sure that your message is in plain text. I am running Presario Laptop, Vista Home Premium. I do not turn the computer off every night. Again, this morning, I opened the lid, the Start Button was on, but hard drive and Internet Adapter, and Screen would not light up. I have to push the Start Button to hard boot, (which I do not like to do), and "usually" everything will boot up ~ some time it will not. I have checked my configuration, and I do not have the Sleep Button configured. Do you think my Start Up might be hidden and it is not being read? Hi George, Thanks for your reply. I was tempted to just overwrite but as it was an illegal copy I thought it might be more prudent to uninstall the 2002 version first. Fortunately that worked.
