    3. Hello In word processing when I justify a paragraph sometimes the last line with only a few words will justify leaving long spaces between the words yet with other paragraphs the last line will not alter. Why does this happen please as it is rather annoying. Regards Peter

    3. May I ask what Word Processing program you are using, Peter ? I have tested this with Microsoft Word 2003 and the last line justifies completely across the screen ONLY when I use a "soft return" to end the paragraph. In MS Word, a soft return is inserted using SHIFT-ENTER as opposed to a "hard return" which is inserted using ENTER. Soft Return definition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soft_return Hard Return definition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_return Regards, Kevin. 1. [COMPUTERS] Picture Folder Problem
    2. Janet
    3. Help ~ have scanned a picture of my ggrandfather, and saved it to my Pictures folder by his name. I have just opened a new e-mail and went above to the "Insert" - picture area. My cursor is in place on the message page. When the Pictures file opened, only an Icon showed, not his picture, or any of the pictures I have saved in that folder. Can someone please tell me what I have done, that the pictures will not show in the Pictures folder. All are Icons, with only names or numbers below them. Thanks so much, Janet

OR you can try to mark and copy, then paste into some other program.

    2. Chris
    3. Vanessa - I found that increasing to 2GB made a huge difference. However, it did "knock a hole" in my small 30GB hard-disk on my laptop. This was a small price to pay as the extra memory made the system much faster. Chris -----Original Message----- From: computers-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:computers-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Vanessa Stern Sent: 18 April 2009 13:05 To: COMPUTERS@rootsweb.com Subject: [COMPUTERS] Memory question My dad is running WinXP with 1GB RAM. He is questioning whether he would gain much in the way of speed if he were to increase the memory. I don't know how the memory is configured in his machine or how much it would cost to add more, but could he expect a significant increase in performance? I think he likes to keep a lot of IE windows open at once and I suspect that could be part of his problem. Vanessa

    2. Kevin Ross
    3. Hi Vanessa, Adding memory can only help your dad's system, however, unless he is running some memory intensive programs, such as graphics programs or MS Excel, then he probably doesn't need the extra memory. I use a small program called MemInfo to monitor my memory usage. After installation, it sits on the system tray and you can hover over the icon to see how much memory is being used at that particular time. http://www.carthagosoft.net/meminfo.htm Memory is rather cheap, though, so it may be a wise investment to install the extra 1Mb. Regards, Kevin. 2. Thanks, Vanessa-- I already have FreeFind on my home page, but when I put it on the cemetery survey, it did not search the survey but the entire site and just told me that a particular name was in the cemetery survey. I have the correct id number in it, too. Emailed FreeFind about it, but no response. Thanks for the thought, though.
