Hi Beth I use MWSnap. Its from Snagit but it is freeware (donations are accepted) It will capture any size rectangular field and download to any image format to any location you choose. I download everything in .jpg format to Desktop. I use it almost everyday. http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html Bob Wilson ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Ross" <kr5927@gmail.com> To: <computers@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 22, 2009 10:32 AM Subject: Re: [COMPUTERS] Scanning/copy and paste : Hi Beth, : : 2 Questions... : SNIP:
Hi Helen, When you are in Windows Mail and are ready to Print there should be a Menu Option File >> Print. Check to see what it says under "Scaling", as this may be reducing your print size. Also, it may be set to "Fit to Size", which may also cause a problem. You may have to do a little testing to print on your model printer. Regards, Kevin. Kevin, If someone sends me something by email(attached or copied) sometimes it looks fine then I just go to "printer" from my "Windows Mail" and print it out and it comes out so tiny. Not always, at times the print is fine to read. I use I.E. for my browser.(8) I did try "copy" and went to "Works " and it printed out fine-but I thought there might be a way to adjust size of printing text from mail. Helen
I have Windows XP Home, and HP psc2210 all-in-one. When I scan a document to "Word" and save it in "My Documents" I then cannot copy and paste from that scanned/filed document. The file is NOT marked "read only". Does anyone know how to be able to edit/copy and paste from that filled document? I would really appreciate any help. I have asked HP but haven't heard from the yet...and I really need to do a little work on a few documents. Thanks for any help. Beth B

Hi Robyn, Do you have Irfanview? If you do go to the Tucows site and download the plug in from there which will read the .djvu files. http://www.tucows.com/preview/415586#MoreInfo If you dont then download Irfanview first! It's freeware as well and is a handy program to have. Go to the Irfanview home page http://www.irfanview.com/ You may be able to download a suitable plug in from there but it is definitely on the tucows site. Is there away to make printed out text larger when someone sends you info(i.e. genealogy data)by e-mail? On my screen it is fine but it prints out so tiny it can hardly be read! I am sure there is something I can do but I have no idea what it is!!! Many thanks, Helen
First, I copy it to MSWord, then I change it to a larger font size, usually 11- or 12-point type. You should be able to do this with any word processor. Dear List, May I ask if it is possible to load and run 1851 census CD ROM from my hard drive? I have succeed in putting on the 1881 and BIVIR set, so very pleased with that, this would complete the set for me. Thank you. Best Wishes, Chris.

Hi All, I've just found some .djvu files, but don't have the software to open them. I've scooted around with google looking for something and found that a plug in should be (was?) available from Lizard Tech, but I can't find it on their site. There's a download from PC World, but it doesn't appear to do actually download anything. Any clues, anyone? Robyn
Try this addrress http://www.celartem.com/en/download/djvu.asp for a plugin - it works as I've just checked it 2 min ago and redownloaded the plugin. Also go to http://djvu.org and go to Resources. Hi Robyn I see you have solved your immediate problem but thought it worth mentioning that Irfanview has a plug in for dealing with Djvu files which I find much better Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Hi All, > > I've just found some .djvu files, but don't have the software to open > them. > > I've scooted around with google looking for something and found that a > plug in should be (was?) available from Lizard Tech, but I can't find it > on their site. Now that all my "ducks" are mostly in a straight row, I am going over my pedigree families and adding Sources and Notes. So --- rather than putting items on and having to go back to edit them, I thought I'd ask for suggestions on what to included. What type of data is appropriate for the Note section in nFS? I record a lot of biographical data in my home program, and often wonder what / how much of it should go online. What is the appropriate data for the Comment section of a Source entry, as well as in the Actual Text space? Hi Robert, Thanks so much for your reply. The answers on this link were very specific and easy to follow. However, it did not work for me. When I look at the back up folder I can see a list of names and when I am doing the restore, at the part where you say "all folders or choose which folders" they are not all there. It is like I can see them in the folder, but the computer can't see them. I guess that means they have somehow become unreadable. I think It must be time to suck it up and get back at the genealogy work. Thanks to everyone that tried to help me.
