    1. [COMPUTERS] Start up programs
    2. Jo Cox
    3. I'm not sure if "start up" is the proper terminology. On the desk top, in the lower right hand corner, where the time is displayed. That is the area I am talking, don't know if this is the taskbar or what. Anyway, there are several things shown there that apparently start up every time the computer is turned on. Some of these, I do not want to start every time I turn the computer on. These are Windows messenger, Kodak easy share, realtek audio manager, volume, mouse(this is for a cordless mouse that i no longer use). Is there any reason that I can't or shouldn't get these turned off. I need step by step directions on how to do this. Thanks, Jo

    2. Robyn Waymouth
    3. Hi, I've just subscribed to a German genealogy mail list (http://list.genealogy.net/mm/listinfo/ow-preussen-l) - which I think I've managed to do - but when I try to login to see their archives I am blocked. I believe the message I get is telling me I haven't got cookies enabled, or something along those lines, but I've checked everywhere I can think of and I still can't login. Can anyone suggest anything to help? My computer runs with XP, Firefox, AVG, and Spybot S/D. The message I get is below - in German of course. */Wichtig:/* Ab diesem Punkt müssen in Ihrem Browser "Cookies" aktiviert sein, da ansonsten keine Ihrer Änderungen in Aktion tritt. 1. [COMPUTERS] Problem accesssing links
    2. Someone sent me links to some cemetery pictures for my cemetery surveys. I cannot connect with them. I get a "navigation canceled" screen, then the loading window shows as normally and asks if I want to open or save. It then starts to download them but stops or sometimes goes through the complete download (taking a LONG time), but I get nothing. The person who sent them says she can click on the link and get the pictures. These are zipped files I recently installed Malwarebytes and Avira anti-virus programs. 3. Hi Kay, Just wondering... Can you print from other programs such as your Word Processor ? According to Microsoft Quicken 2002 is not compatible with Windows Vista... It says "Action recommended - Get Paid Upgrade" http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Search.aspx?type=Software&s=quicken&page=3 https://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Details.aspx?type=Software&p=Quicken%202002&v=Intuit&uid=&pf=0&pi=0&s=Quicken%202002&os=32-bit Does Quicken function okay? Apparently, in Vista, you must run the install as Administrator or problems can occur. Not to be negative, but I have also heard that, as of 2007, Quicken 2002 will no longer be able to access financial institutions on-line. Again, I am not sure if this is true or not, but I would not be surprised.  Just wanted to point that out ! 3. Hi Bea I have had similar problems with my desktop and the cure was to buy a plain mousemat! The mouse was so sensitive it was picking up the patterns on the desk and flitting all over the place. In your case, your mouse may simply need new batteries. But if the laptop is still under warranty I would go back to where you bought it from and get them to check out the touch pad. Don't let them tell you it isn't their resposibility, as under the Sales of Goods Act it is up to the seller to either put the problem right, refund your money or offer a replacement. I wouldn't tell them that the fault has been there since day one though, as they may say that you should have brought it straight back! 1. [COMPUTERS] jumping cursor
    2. Bea
    3. I bought a Compaq laptop, with Vista a few months ago, and noticed at the time the cursor would jump around from the spot I tried to move it too - often clear across the page. I thought it was just my not being familiar with the touch pad, and forgot about it as I had also bought a wireless mouse. The mouse is now acting up (dies after a few click) so I want to go back to the touch pad. Is there some place in Vista to adjust the cursor movements, or is this something that a tech should work on? Bea __________________________________________________________________ Yahoo!
