Someone wrote an Email about saving your information on paper and not on computer parts. I lost it and would like a copy of it. Will the author or someone that still has it send me a copy of it. I would appreciate it. Bob
Hi Jessie, Can you please let me know what you are having problems with? Perhaps we can help further ? It sounded to me that is was your Task Bar that had moved. If this is the case, then your TIME and your START BUTTON would also have moved as they are both a component of the Task Bar. Does it look like your Task Bar has moved? If your Task Bar did indeed move, there is also a possibility that it is now "Locked". You can determine this if you Right Click on the Task Bar (in an open area of the Task Bar). There is an option to "Lock the Taskbar". If it is selected with a check mark you need to DESELECT it before you can move the Task Bar. Regards, Kevin. After re-reading your message... Are you referring to your TASKBAR? If so... just LEFT CLICK on a blank section of your Task Bar and HOLD. You can drag the Task bar to the Left, Right, Top or Bottom of the Screen. Regards, Kevin. "There may be a way to add the formula to all the rest of the cells in the column in one operation. If someone knows how, please share." Highlight all the cells where the formula is needed, including the cell containing the formula; then choose Edit, Fill, Down. Result: the same formula is in all the highlighted cells. If a series of numbers, dates, etc., is required, follow the same steps as above, except choose Series, then the select the appropriate series. The highlighted cells will then contain the serial numbers, dates, or whatever, e.g., if B2 contains '0' and the series is to be in multiples of '10', enter 10 in the appropriate place. Result: 0, 10, 20, 30 and so on down the column. Rows can also be done and there are several different series to choose from. Have a play - it's fun!! Hi Jessie put the mouse on the bar that the icons are in and click and pull and release when bar is on bottom of screen. I do not know if right or left click but try left click first. Peggy > Could someone please tell me how to get my icons (the ones which were > always on the bottom left of the screen just along from start )- and are > now down the right hand side of the screen (from top to bottom)
Could someone please tell me how to get my icons (the ones which were always on the bottom left of the screen just along from start )- and are now down the right hand side of the screen (from top to bottom) and no Int. Explorer in with them too as usual. How this happened I have no idea. I was working away and all of a sudden they jumped to the upper right of my screen. I'd be grateful if someone could tell me how I can rectify this? Thanks in advance. Jessie.

The formula bar above the table (in the toolbar) will always contain the formula, not the result of the formula. Only the table cells will contain the result (the concatenated names). I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by the "Sample." Allow me to walk through this step-by-step... Create the new column. Right-click the header cell of the new column. Choose Format Cells... On the Number tab, choose either General or Text and click OK. Select (left-click) the top cell in the column. Enter the formula to concatenate the two strings (assuming here given name is in column B and the surname is in column C and the first row is row 2): =B2&" "&C2 and hit Enter. When you hit Enter, the formula should disappear and the concatenated name should appear in its place. Now when you Select (left-click) this cell, the formula will appear in the Insert Function field in the toolbar, but the result of the formula should appear in the cell. To enter the same formula in the rest of the cells, right-click on the cell you've filled and choose Copy. Then left-click on each cell in the column and hit Ctrl-V to copy the formula into the cell. The cell designations in the formula will adjust to the row it's in. There may be a way to add the formula to all the rest of the cells in the column in one operation. If someone knows how, please share. Hi Anne, I must admit, I have lost focus of what your issue is. I would really like to get a resolution to your problem, as I have a user here at work, that has formatting issues as well. Please explain what result you are trying to obtain and what, exactly you are receiving right now. I have tried formatted my resultant cell (C1) in numerous ways, but I cannot "break" it and get what I believe are your results !!! I would really appreciate if you could answer this OR, if you have solved your issues... how you solved it !!! (FYI... my issue involves a user who imports a file from an outside system. Her MS Excel does not recognize the data as numeric whereas my MS Excel does... it is something in the settings !!!) Regards, Kevin. Is there anyone on the list who has experience with combining two columns into one, i.e. surname, given names? I have combined the columns successfully, but cannot get the names to read as text in the formula bar. That in itself is not a problem, but searching for someone in a large database is - the name comes up as "not found". I have tried formatting cells without success. Thanks i.a. for any help. -- Anne PICKETTS Waipu, NZ
You can change the Formating before or after entering the formulae. Diana > > That would appear to be my error - not formatting the new > column first. > > Thanks for your help. > > Anne > > >
You need to use a function to do this... CONCATENATE Let's say this is your setup... Cell A1 - First Name Cell B1 - Last Name Cell C1 - This is where you want the Complete Name... Formula for cell C1... =CONCATENATE(A1," ",B1) (I concatenated the two cells along with a single space in between) To do this... Put cursor in Cell C1 MENU >> Insert >> Function Select CONCATENATE On Sun, Aug 23, 2009 at 1:41 PM, Anne Picketts<waipucove@gmail.com> wrote: > Is there anyone on the list who has experience with combining two columns > into one, i.e. surname, given names? > I have combined the columns successfully, but cannot get the names to read > as text in the formula bar.
