    2. Robyn Waymouth
    3. Hi Listers, I'm trying to log into the National Library of Australia's E-Resources site, but it won't recognise me if I use Firefox, which is my preferred program. The NLA advise that it won't work and I should use Internet Explorer. I have tried to open IE, had 3 (I think) windows from Spybot Search and Destroy asking me to approve something, which I did, but then all activity ceased. I have a blank screen with a notice saying "Connecting to site 207.46.193.245". I've got 4 green bars out of a potential 10 or so showing how far it's progressed. If I go to Task Manager it shows that "http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&pver=6&ar=msnhome - Windows Internet Explorer" is running. I'd be grateful for your help. Robyn

Well, maybe from your flash drive, but if it's getting scanned in PC1, then you shouldn't have a problem. I'm not sure why you need virus protection at all. But for a 'sortof' answer, anyway... Uninstall AVG from PC2, download the latest version onto your flashdrive via PC1 and then load it from the flash drive onto PC2. 3. Hi: You can try again, but try closing down all other applications before you do the scan. If you really want to scan "in depth", you can... update your virus definitions, unplug from the internet, stop all programs from running (i.e. stop your firewall program and any other programs that startup with your system, but be careful not to stop any programs which are critical to your operating system... this can be a challenge), then run your Anti-Virus and do a full system scan. I think this would give you the best coverage. Regards, Kevin. It seems sort of counterproductive to have this Anti-virus program if it can't scan the files. Thanks again.

The only caveat is that the updates are very large files and probably include ALL Vrus Definitions whereas, if you are connected to the Internet and are updating on a daily basis, you would probably receive incremental updates. http://free.avg.com/download-update I hope you are using AVG v8.5.x, as version 7.5 support had been discontinued as of April 30 2009. 1. [COMPUTERS] Autonomy KeyView SDK Vulnerability ( Lotus Notes and Symantec Mail Security)
    2. Joan Asche
    3. Autonomy KeyView SDK Vulnerability Original release date: August 26, 2009 at 9:47 am Last revised: August 26, 2009 at 9:47 am US-CERT is aware of reports of a vulnerability in the way the Autonomy KeyView SDK parses Excel files. The Autonomy KeyView SDK is used by certain products, including Lotus Notes and Symantec Mail Security, to support the handling of a number of different file formats. By supplying a specially crafted Excel spreadsheet to an application using the affected Autonomy KeyView SDK library, a remote attacker may be able to execute arbitrary code in the context of that application. US-CERT encourages users and administrators to do the following to help mitigate the risks: * IBM Lotus Notes users should review the IBM Flash Alert and implement the listed fixes or workarounds. * Symantec users should review Symantec Security Advisory SYM09-010 and implement the listed fixes or workarounds. * The original reporters of the vulnerability state that users of other applications that use an affected version of the Autonomy KeyView SDK may wish to remove the xlssr.dll filter module or comment out the reference to xlssr.dll in the KeyView.ini file distributed with the affected application.
