My son bought a program today, TuneUp360. It is supposed to be a program that cleans up all the "junk" on one's computer and thereby increasing the speed of the computer. Never having heard of this program, we are a bit concerned that it is from a reputable company. We are hoping some of the knowledgeable folks on this list will be able to tell us something about that program. It was thirty dollars for one year. TIA Fred, Sr.

For those considering purchasing Malwarebytes, Google "Malwarebytes Coupon" first. It will be worth your while. We will see, I guess I think what happened was MalwareBytes saw too many pirated copies of their older version, and changed things a bit. Now, the paid version does offer some extra features, but the free version still gives you most of the protection you'd generally need. Looks like the DL gives you the paid version for a short period, then if you don't buy it, it downgrades itself to the free version.
A strange think happened. When I first downloaded Malwarebytes, "Enable Protection" was greyed out. Now, the Protection page says you have run the trial version to enable protection. I also read that when the trial period runs out, the program reverts to the free version if you don't purchase the product. We will see, I guess Bob ---------------------------------------- > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Date: Fri, 23 Sep 2011 12:05:37 -0700 > Subject: Re: [COMPUTERS] Software downloads > > > Bud > > What I downloaded is not a trial version. Bud What I downloaded is not a trial version. Did you check out the Malwarebytes website below? They offer a free version or the choice of purchasing the full version. A trial version is not mentioned or on the website on the software I downloaded. I suggest you download it to verify this. You will also see that the free version is far from identical to the Pro version Bob http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free ---------------------------------------- > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Date: Fri, 23 Sep 2011 10:50:29 -0700 > Subject: Re: [COMPUTERS] Software downloads > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Paul L LeBlanc" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Friday, September 23, 2011 6:14 AM > Subject: Re: [COMPUTERS] Software downloads > > > > > > Bob > > > > Sorry this downloads the 14 day trial not the free version > > NO trial version. > > The free version doesn't do auto-updates, but is otherwise identical > to the 'pro' version. > > > > > > > :-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~: > > Please refrain from posting commercial URLs and from discussing prices on the list. > > Remember to SNIP when replying. > > :-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~: > > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

My desk top turned bright red and the icons distorted with the writing beneath them changing to a Chinese type writing. Is this a virus? Has anyone else had this happen? Pat
I believe that http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware.shtml is the latest version. This is not the Pro version which has a trial period. That's the way I see it. I am running the version from this download. Joe, Don't be sorry. Both sites download the same setup version. i.e. mbam-setup-1.5.2.1300 and both dowload Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (PRO) but it is not a trial version. You can verify this at the following website. More woes! After working for weeks, and changing users on my laptop it decided to crash. Fortunately I had 75% of the goodstuff backed up on cloud, and the other 25% backup in its original format, on DVDs - so not too badly off. I am now back on my PC, with its small monitor. My small TV has a computer linking port, but I can't find any directions on how to use it. Does one have to disconnect the TV cable, etc. or can they both be hooked up, and the cable just turned off? Bea
A couple of weeks ago I downloaded the free version and it's been fine although I haven't tried to update it yet. Bob, many thanks for your time and help. I will give it a try. Maybe this version and/or these instructions will supply what I need to know.
