Kevin, I agree with David. I think that SyncBack is probably corrupting the images while compressing or encrypting them. It's not so much file corruption, as image corruption. The crc will be correct, because the syncback altered the file, rather than a corruption during copy. I saw similar results many years ago with the early compression software. Stripes on corrupt image files appear because of the way the lossy compression works. The result varies depending on the file type. I'm guessing the images are JPEG. Can you send me a corrupt image to analyse? And the good version of the same image? Agree, Les. I do wonder, however, why the previous backups with SyncBack did not alter the files ! Regards, Kevin. Thanks for your help with this, Kevin. I will have a look at Beyond Compare. Hi Bea, I don't believe you can send a file straight from Access. It would have to have been exported into a different format. I can "print" straight to PDF (but you need to have a program that will create PDF files). Alternatively you can export from Access to Excel or RTF - the latter is useful if you're trying to copy a report rather than a table. The request from one of the listers here for you to tell us what the suffix in the file name is is the most important bit of information you can give us, as there are so many ways data can be generated from Access. Kevin, I don't need to take a second copy but I am curious as to why it happens. Is there, perhaps some problem I have with my computer system? I share a lot of photos with others; and I would be interested to know if they are going to experience problems copying my copies of copies. Bea, What is the filename suffix? If you let me know what the filetype is, I will know what you should do with it. It's unlikely he sent an access db file. More likely an exported file. The breaking up of the photos is into separate horizontal bands each having predominantly a single colour. I have a desktop pc to which I scanned the photos. I use SyncBack SE to automatically copy files to an external hard drive. Since scanning the photos I have purchased a laptop. I also use SyncBack SE to copy files from the laptop to a different folder on the same ehd. I copied from the ehd to the laptop without a problem. When this folder was then copied to its mirror on the ehd the photos broke up. What I have done to keep a good copy on the laptop ehd copy is to copy directly from pc ehd folder to laptop ehd folder. This laptop ehd folder does however get overwritten by the automatic copying process. It is not a major problem as I do have a good copy but would like to know why and if there is anything I can do about it. Hi Bea, MS Access 2007 is a Microsoft Office program which allows you to create databases. If you want to read the file sent to you, you can see if you have MS Access available to you, as part of MS Office Suite or you can try this program, which seems to be able to open both Microsoft Access MDB files and the newer ACCDB files. I haven't tried this program, but it is recommended on Download.com, a reputable download site... MDB Viewer Plus http://download.cnet.com/MDB-Viewer-Plus/3000-2065_4-75285626.html Regards, Kevin.
