Hi all Just an enquiry Of late I have had occasional pages stop loading and an error message along the lines of Adobe Flash Player plugin has crashed It appears to be while it is trying to load an advert on the page, it does it on some sites not all but the likes of ebay for example where they have adverts I just wondered if others were having the same problem Googling suggests its a known problem and offers to go back to an earlier Flash plugin but I am loath to do that knowing the vulnerabilities of anything Adobe -- Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK)
Hello, I have been having the same problem for some time now. I have no idea what causes it, there have been a few times, if I just wait a few seconds, it goes ahead and loads, strange, sometimes I have to get out and start over. Irritating but what can you do, seems these things have a mind of their own sometimes. Hi Nivard, I am using Palemoon and have the same problem all day long. I keep hoping with each new version the problem will be corrected but it hasn't. Just thought I would send out some links on the new version of Firefox (v22) just released... Firefox 22.0: Find out what is new ------------------------------------------------- http://www.ghacks.net/2013/06/24/firefox-22-0-find-out-what-is-new/ Includes... Performance improvements ---------------------------------------- Performance is always a hot topic. Firefox 22 should give users of the browser a nice performance boost thanks to the integration of asm.js in that version of the browser. You can expect that - some - JavaScript code will execute a lot faster once you have upgraded to or installed Firefox 22. Additional information about asm.js are available here. Note that they are mostly useful for developers. That's however not the only performance improvement in Firefox 22. The WebGL rendering performance has been improved thanks to asynchronous canvas updates. So, instead of having to wait for sync transactions, this is now handled asynchronously speeding up the process. Check out this bug report if you are interested in finding out more. Are there any programs that will OCR at the same time as a scan? Everything that I've been reading seems to suggest that PDF documents need to be "OCR'd" after they become PDFs - is there any program that I can buy for a reasonable price that does this in one step? I think that my Epson V700 scanner has OCR software in it (not sure about that), but when I print an email or a web page to PDF, I use a free program (Primo PDF), and that doesn't OCR the document. Thanks, Susan
Thanks for the reply. I have found the books in one of my computer directories, from Kindle, but haven't found any for Kobo. Must be just downloaded when I am using them, but go back when I take a break. Good to know that there is only internet usage during the down load. Joan, if you can find it on the small display, look for a gear and click on the comfortable display option. You may have clicked on the compact accidently and that would shrink the display to extra small! -----Original Message----- From: computers-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:computers-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Joan Arc Sent: Thursday, June 13, 2013 11:09 PM To: computers Subject: [COMPUTERS] help! how to get back old gmail program. I hope this topic is not OT? For years I have used the Microsoft Outlook calendar, and now using it in Office 2010. I had the calendar set so that each month was seen as a whole with all appointment dates/reminders filled in, visible at a glance. Two weeks ago I printed out the calendar for a monthly view to take with me for scheduling purposes. Now, as of today, the same old month of June calendar shows but nothing is filled in. This week is greyed out. Wow! Trying everything I could think of to no avail, I decided to ask for help, please help? How do I get my calendar re-set to show the months of the year with dates/appointments/reminders showing at a glance? Hope this is clear? TIA Mary Fran Win7, 64 bit, Office 2010

CCleaner does an excellent job and is easy to use. It does not require any setting up. It will load automatically. You should have no problem about it wiping your drive unless you specifically ask it to do this. The drive wiper function is out of the way of the normal clean-up facilities. To get to it you have to click on Tools and then Drive Wiper. I use CCleaner on a regular basis and I can assure you that there is no risk of wiping your drive clear. My nephew had the same problem and he had to rewire from the phone box outside into all his phone outlets. Of course he put it off for a year - but when he finally did it, the problem was solved. Mine would work in the a.m. when I first logged on but would disconnect soon. This went on for about a month, during which I had the phone company out over and over. Finally, a friend got in touch with a supervisor whom he knew, they came out, and discovered a bird had built a nest on a wire maybe 1/4 mile from where I live. They evicted the bird and that took care of the problem. Just a thought. Hope it is resolved soon. </HTML>
Hello Computers, I am having a problem that no one so far can figure out. I have called the techs everyday for a couple of weeks, no answer, their big thing is for me to unplug my modem for 2 minutes then plug back in and let it reset. I have done this over and over and over. I have replaced the modem, I got a new filter and plugged into the phone line. I have made sure all the connections are tight and plugged in. I have had the same set up for nearly 10 years, I did get a new computer 2+ years ago. Win7, I have a home network and the connection to the Internet may stay on for half and hour, or it may lose connection every 2 minutes, I kept a chart on day, 1 minute of---then 1 minute on. Maybe that would follow at 2 minutes on or 3 but always lose connection with a few minutes. We have been having rain and storms in this area, it seems to stay on during the rain, now today no rain and it is off, on, off, on, off again. I just hope I can get this message out. I am at my wits end on this one, they have sent someone out twice but still no better. Thank you for anything you can think of that might help. It's really hard to get anything done. I had a similar problem many years ago, and it was corrosion on the copper. Cleaned it by scraping the gunk off, and it stayed good for years after.
