Hello; My grandfather is Melvin Otha Compton, b 26 Sept 1875 in Metcalfe Co., KY, m Lee Ann Thrasher 5 July 1905 in Cumberland Co., KY, his father is Lewis A. Compton, b 1840, place unknown, m Mary Susan Turner abt 1858 in Cumberland Co., KY. Lewis A. Compton has at least the following siblings, Pinckney D. Compton, b 12 June 1844 in Christian Co, KY, Joseph R. Compton, b abt 1845 place unknown, Mary Jane Compton, b abt 1842, place unknown. In the 1850 census Lewis A. Compton was in the household of David Garmon in Cumberland Co., KY, Pinckney D. Compton was in the household of Jno Walbert in Adair Co, KY, Joseph R. Compton was in the household of Scott Thompson in Adair Co., KY, Mary Jane Compton was in the household of William Ackerson in Adair, CO Ky. On Pinckney D. Comptons death certificate his parents are listed as William Compton and Sally Mills. Pinckney served in the 1st KY Calvary, CO J and was wounded in service. Pinckney and his wife Rebecca Hunter are buried in Ragan cemetery Russell Co., KY. Lewis and his wife are buried in Leslie cemetery Cumberland Co., KY. As are Melvin Otha and his wife. Our main area of research is on William Compton and Sally Mills, we believe she is the daughter of Archibald Ewing Mills and Nancy Hardgraves and she was born in Wayne Co, KY. After the death of her father before 1814 her mother Nancy married Archibalds half brother John Mills in 1820 in Davidson Co., TN.
