Anyone with evidence of Crompton and Compton spellings in the same family? I.e. mis-spellings by the clerk or registrar or minister etc? I have Cromptons in my Cheshire and Lancashire ancestors, and coincidentally found the Compton bible mentioned in an earlier post..
