I have been "told" but cannot prove that the parents of James H. COMPTON(CUMPTON), b. KY, Apr 1855 were Henderson and Sally COMPTON. I have not been able to find a Henderson COMPTON, but did find Herndon (Horndon) COMPTON in 1870 Census, Sandy, Lawrence Co. KY. COMPTON, Herndon (Horndon), age 50, b. NC (b. abt 1820) " Henry, age 20, b. VA (b. abt 1850) " Harmon, age 16, b. KY (b. abt 1854) " JAMES, age 14, b. KY (b. abt 1856,a possibility) " Kate, age 11, b. KY (b. abt 1859) " Belle, age 6, b. KY (b. abt 1864) James H. COMPTON married 19 Mar 1882 to Georgia VAUGHAN, d/o Abraham and Sulthana (WILSON) VAUGHAN. I found Kate COMPTON in the 1880 Census, Lawr. Co.,KY working as a servant in the Green LACKEY household, but have not located the rest of the family in the 1880 census.
