    2. Robert Davidson
    3. Hi all! There seems to be two William Comptons as first settlers in east NJ in 1670s. A. Wm. Compton (b-1622, Kent, England) or his son William from Gravesend, Long Island. B. William from Massachusets/ New Hampshire area, son of John Compton (m- Susanah Freeman) One settled in Middlesex, Belford, Compton Creek, Monmouth County. The other settled in Woodbridge, less than 20 miles away to the west. One was the ancestor of a William Compton who married Sarah Sweet and migrated to Canada as United Empire Loyalists in 1783. Which one? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bob Davidson 3049 Preddy Creek Road Charlottesville, VA 22911 Home phone 804-975-1608 Fax phone 804-975-1708 Email rdavidson@cstone.net ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
