Compton researchers, William Compton, born about 1622, was at Gravesand, Long Island, NY, in 1645 in Lady Deborah Moody's colony. William had 2 sons, John and William Jr. William Jr., married Mary Bowne(1720-Nov.9,1768), and William Jr. moved from NY to NJ in 1666. William and Mary had 4 children: Judith, Cornelius, Richard and Jacob Compton. My line, Cornelius, was born about 1672, and married Elizabeth Stout in 1694. Cornelius died in Monmouth Co.,NJ, in 1750. Cornelius and Elizabeth had 6 children in NJ. William was one of Cornelius' sons, and he married Jane Brown about 1738, and they had 3? children: Mathias, William Jr., and Catherine. Mathias, my line, married Catherine Green, Nov.2,1765, in NY?. Mathias and Catherine had 2? children: Ebenezer Turrell Compton, born Sep.3,1772, and Jane. Ebenezer married Ailecy Hopper on May 6, 1794 in Henry Co.,VA. Ailecy was born 1771 in Henry Co.,VA. I think Ebenezer and Ailecy, moved to NC, and then to KY. They lived in the Adair/Russell Co.,KY area, and had 9? children there: Jordan, Eleanor, Nancy, Mary(Polly), Bethel, Patsey, Julia (aka Inda), James R., Martha?.
