Erastus D.3 Compton (Micajah2, Banner1); (He served in Company D of the Third Kentucky Infantry, Union Army from 7 Aug 1861 to 9 May 1863. He was promoted from Corporal to Sergeant on 9 Dec 1861 and was discharged on a surgeon's certificate of disability. According to service papers, he was severely wounded in the left thigh at the Battle of Stone's River (Murphreesboro). By his own description in his Pension application, he was carried to the rear after being shot and when the battle moved close to his position, managed to get himself into a ditch but sustained injuries to his right arm in the process. He spent some time in the hospital and was discharged for an unrelated heart problem. Papers describe him as 6'-1" tall, 175 pounds, with light hair and complexion and blue eyes. He suffered a stroke or heart attack on 15 Apr 1921 and was confined to bed thereafter. He appears to have spent the last days of his life in the care of his son, William T. He died on 12 Apr 1924 at Taylor, Williamson Co, TX, at age 82. He was buried on 12 Apr 1924 at Taylor City Cemetery, Taylor, Williamson Co, TX.
