    3. Dear fellow researchers of Compton/Crumpton/Crump/Cumpton/Crompton lines: I just received an email from Dr. Pat Williams, Benchmark Genetics, that the blood samples of myself and my 5th. cousin, Dewell Crumpton, have been analyized for chromosome "y" testing, and the samples are "identical". According to them, this proves our Crumpton ancestry. One William Crumpton, born abt. 1824 is our closest Crumpton ancestor. These two blood samples were shipped to them on 25 November 1998, so it takes awhile to get results. This comparison was instigated by the article, "Jefferson and Sally", in U.S. News & World Report magazine, 9 Nov 1998. Now that we have an initial "basis" for comparison, some interesting possible "match-ups" on the horizon? (1) Charles David Crumpton (Memphis, TN) Charles is the son of John Rives Crumpton and his line goes all the way to Henry Crumpton, who sailed from Bristol England to American in 1665. (2) John Bull Crumpton's descendents and (3) Charles Compton's ancestors (It's possible I came out of the South Carolina Greenville/Laurens County Compton line in mid 1700s., or it's possible Charles came out of that Crumpton line). I will be glad to mail a "summary report of results", and "how to do test", for those interested. Please let me have your mailing address, and you will hear from me in due time. The best to all of you. Dan Crumpton email gen@Thomson.net
