Thanks to both Doris & Charles for your further messages as both of your replies contained additional info that I don't have in my notes. Although I have full copy of "COMPTONOLOGY," apparently I must have overlooked the pages Doris mentions in her earlier reply to Jill Acree 6/30/98 for date birth/death of John COMPTON h/o Elizabeth so I'll go back through them sometime soon. At time I last replied to Doris, I had not been able to access her website but have since done so & WOW, lots of COMPTON records & seemingly same line that Charles is pursuing!! My Ahnentafel is shown on following webpage: http://members.xoom.com/dghouk/dghouk.htm We all 3 seem to be stuck at about the same period of time, although I'm quite certain starting with Archibald COMPTON b1759/1760 since Rev War record shows dates for him & his wife Sarah CAVENDER (shown in COMPTONOLOGY as CARPENTER, I believe). There are those who disagree that this Archibald is s/o John & Elizabeth's son Archibald but there is no doubt in my mind as my great-grandfather George William COMPTON's oldest bro Dr John Patrick COMPTON b1826 lived to almost 100 & wrote about his grandparents Archibald & Sallie COMPTON. Archibald COMPTON was b1759/1760 & in list of John/Elizabeth's children Micajah is named earier so assume he born prior to that date (sometime between 1750-1760). Therefore, I think he can be excluded as being Micajah who Charles says is in Laurens Co,SC 1820 census with wife & 5 small children, but it is certainly possible this Micajah b.ca 1780/1790 is descended from John/Elizabeth's line. Charles mentions John COMPTON married to Elizabeth Board but I'm not aware of this couple & wonder where they married??? Yes, there are several points which are sticklers to all of us, Charles, but by all of keeping in contact & exchanging data each of us has, I think there is a chance of unravelling more of this mystery.
