--part1_36.202954c.25d625cd_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I am Stephen L. Compton, gggrandson of William F. Compton, b. 1827 in Va., lived for many years on Island Creek near Pikeville, KY, m. Mary "Polly" Sword Mar 1851, d. Dassell MN 1904. He is reportedly the son of John Compton III and Rebecca Wallace, although that assertion is undocumented. I have a number of sites out there, including: Compton_Genealogy Steve's LDS Pages F TM--Island Creek Comptons I also have a myfamily.com site with a number of pictures, GED's etc. If you would like an invitation please email me. I have been to most of the county seats in SW Virginia and also to Pike Co. KY. I have also been to the DAR library in Washington, the Library of Congress, and the MD State archives. The principal issue in my lineage continues to be proof of the parentage of William F. Compton. Anybody that can shed any light on this matter will be sincerely appreciated. Lets get things rolling. How about everyone recapping who, what, when and where they are searching and lets get the pot boiling again. Im searching for the parents of William Compton, b VA, 1767, d Nashville 1846. Married Susan Mullen Dec. 1799. Have extensive information on their children. May have found a link to Williams parents from a couple of old bibles. Recently found a reference to the old Compton bible that may have been in the collection of J. Emerick Nagy of Nashville. Nagy is deceased but if anyone knows anything about this collection or the old Compton bible would appreciate the information.
